The perfect summer dresses

You can dress it up or down and the quality is great (I do not put it in the dryer).

If you look good in this, you must be truly beautiful. I'm imagining you as tall and lithe with beautiful olive skin and dark hair. On me, this would look like utter surrender and sadness.

Isn’t this what a muu muu is?

Good lord, I am so sick of seeing women running out & about and on their way to work in what are essentially nightgowns! No more tiers and ruffles! Simple is good.

DP and honestly, that dress reminds me of a dress version of clothing they gave to new patients when I worked inpatient psych. I love a good, comfy, summer dress, and I have the build to wear unstructured dresses well, but this one is… no.

DP and I wanted to love this one! The neckline was a little too high for me, but yeah, it’s a great, easy summer dress.

I LOVE maxi dresses for comfort and surviving the godawful DC summer. But for real: all you ladies in your 40s can go brakes in July in DC? Lucky! It bums me out that 80% of the sleeveless dresses out there won’t cover a bra strap.

I'm 34 DDD and last time I was braless was in my teens.

I'm with you...at a 32D/34C, I don't feel comfortable without a bra. I ordered three maxi dresses because of this thread and all allow me to wear a bar. They weren't directly linked, but I think the links here had me searching around. Let me see if I can find them...

I got this in orange (persimmon):

This in navy (I was worried about the sleeves because I'm broad in the shoulder, but they're great):

This is black (super simple, just for knocking around the house):

32C and i go braless all the time. My DH is more "conservative" in clothing, and i check with him and he's like "yup you're good to go" so i know i'm not delusional. With more pulled together outfits, i typically wear a bra to create the right silhouette. But if it's a sundress, backless dress, halter style, etc, then i have no problem going braless and looking good. I'm 44.

I recently got this dress and like it a lot. (maybe it's horrible though and I have no taste?) The linen blend is nice. Maxi dresses can be OK but the volume of most of them I have tried on lately is just too much fabric and not flattering for me.

I think it’s hilarious that you trust your husband’s opinion on whether it’s appropriate to go braless. He’s your husband. Of course he wants to you to go braless. That doesn’t mean the rest of us want you to.

Ask a girlfriend how you look. I’m smaller busted than you and wear strapless bras under many summer dresses. I have no interest in my nipples being on display.

I think that's so nice!

Are you going braless in it? I've avoided spaghetti straps forever because of the whole bra issue - but this thread is making me think maybe I should just liberate myself and go without.

It has a lining so I could get away with it, but Ill probably wear a strapless bra.
