See upthread. Youngkin just lost one of his main campaign guys to DeSantis’s PAC.

I'd say most of DeSantis's campaign staff are wondering if it's time to jump ship. I wonder how much pudding he's smearing over the campaign offices these days.

They can jump around as much as the want but trump will still get the nomination and he will still destroy the careers of the people willing to work for him. He destroys everything he touches.

How is that possible to not know!??? Just really really weird. Did he not hear about it? Maybe it wasn't a big deal in GA where he was teaching at the time. The world essentially shut down -- all flights were cancelled for at least a week (maybe many weeks)... there were big statements on tv at night and memorial concerts, and whatnot.

How can you not remember that time and the fear that our country was going to go to war? That is really weird.

I think I figured it out. He graduated from Yale in 2001 and from HLS in 2005. The year in the middle of those was the one where he was teaching history at the private school and going to parties with students - Trump has been harping on that. So the answer as to where he was is teaching history to high school students, and the answer to why he’s yada-yadaing over where he was during the actual event is that he doesn’t want to say that’s where he was and open himself up to questions about it.

We'll that did not work very well. Now we want to know exactly where he was and why he pretended not to remember. It was a Tuesday morning.....was he at school?

As a high school teacher in the South, yes of course he would have been at school on a Tuesday morning in September. But he doesn’t want to say “I was teaching my class at the Darlington School when we got that horrible news…” etc. etc. because then any good interviewer, even Piers Morgan, is going to use that as a jumping off point to ask him about his year teaching and about the allegations that he was partying with girls there.

Not trying to be argumentative with you PP, but if DeSantis intends to run for President now or in the future, he's going to have to answer this question. If he wants to run for any future office he probably needs to figure out how is he going to answer this. It won't go away. It's like blood in the water.

He has to answer this question - and get better at answering questions more broadly. He just stinks at this.

He was pictured at a graduation party for his students. Lots of our favorite teachers attended our graduation parties when I was in high school. But I get that it's super fun to take Trump's asinine, baseless attack and run with it.

I hate both DeSantis and Trump. But if this is the case, then DeSantis missed a golden opportunity to tell everyone
* exactly where he was on 9/11,
* that he was teaching at the time but watching 9/11 unfold with these kids made him want to go to law school and join the JAG to help bring those responsible to justice,
* that the picture that’s circulating was from an innocent graduation party,
* and that Trump, who used to brag about walking into dressing rooms full of underaged beauty pageant contestants while they were changing, has a dirty mind and should stop his asinine, baseless attack about an innocent graduation party.

But he did none of those things because he’s a sniveling simp.

Frankly, I'm not interested in any more "where were you on 9/11" stories. The outrage about this utterly innocuous sound byte is certainly typical for the left. I sincerely doubt Morgan wanted a literal play-by-play of exactly where DeSantis was on 9/11. The answer he gave - a general summing up of where he was IN LIFE - seems much more succinct and appropriate to the conversation. But keep up the faux outrage!

To that point, here is the full, uncut interview. Right around 27:00 is right after the clip ended - and right when they start talking about that time in our country's history. His answer makes perfect sense, but of course, whoever made the clip strategically left out the rest of their conversation. How typical.

After watching this interview, I'm liking DeSantis even more. He comes across as smart, personable, humble, and NORMAL.

You're missing the point, perhaps deliberately so, which seems common in DeSantis fans. The point is not his reciting his exact location/play by play of where he was on 9/11, it's that DeSantis literally squinches up his face like he's trying to recall some obscure fact from his childhood and then says, "I think I had just graduated college and was applying to law school."

No American adult over the age of about 35 is going to find it believable that DeSantis doesn't recall precisely where he was/how/when he found out. DeSantis made that the story, not the left. PP above wrote an excellent script for how this should have been handled.

Oh, please. Shall we talk about Biden’s utter inability to recall FACTS from his life, and instead resorts to spinning wild and untrue yarns? DeSantis correctly skipped over the mundane “where were you” and made his answer more applicable to where he was headed in his life and how 9/11 affected him - which you would grasp if you actually watched the whole video and not some silly clip taken out of context.

Honestly, next you people will be criticizing the way he drinks his water.

Wow, dramatic much? I’m quite sure he’ll have no issue stating where he literally was on 9/11 - I was stuck in traffic. So exciting! Most people don’t have some big, dramatic story to tell about where they were when they heard the news. But if you think that’s “blood in the water,” so be it. Your hyperbole is absurd, as usual.

Ugh. Our high school parties were kegs, joints being passed around and make-out sessions. Would have been super weird for a teacher to even be there.

Well, sure - we had those too. But we also had the family parties, and teachers did indeed often attend them. There was absolutely nothing weird or unusual about it.

Have you seen the photos? Those weren't the family parties.

Lil D is also clearly hiding what he was doing, because he's never said, "Those were family parties," and no one's family, similarly, has come out to say that grandma was there, too. It wasn't just a teacher there with beers and his arms around teenage girls at a party.

See upthread. Youngkin just lost one of his main campaign guys to DeSantis’s PAC.
