I listened to the NPR interview with Will Hurd, and he sounded smart and downright reasonable

In a better world, Will Hurd would get the nom and we'd have two normal people who have some policy disagreements - neither of whom presents an existential crisis to our existence as a nation. I guess that's not that world.

Trump is getting the nomination. The indictments embolden his base and the rest of the pack will either have to side with him, inflaming moderates, or oppose him, inflaming the base.

Uh, that's because he no longer holds public office. It's pretty amazing how the R's stop drinking the Kool Aid and towing the MAGA line when they're reelection hopes don't depend on it.
