Same boat. Outside of picking Warren which may alienate more conservative dems/independents, I don't think his pick will have any affect on his electability. |
+1 |
I think Harris or Rice could also have a negative impact on electability. |
^^we tend to stay in our coastal elite bubble and not think enough about swing/ working class voters. |
I don’t even care. And I cannot believe that with all that Donald and his crime squad have done that we know about so far that anyone needs to be pandered to like those weak ash people who have already been a party to the GOP’s turn to full on authoritarianism. “Oh boo hoo hoo but the VP choice doesn’t appeal to me”. We all have one choice this November: Joe Biden or the end of America. That’s why I said Joe Biden/Anyone (although somewhat ironically given the +1 replies, my VP choice is Warren). |
+1. I’m astounded that anyone could give any kind of pause because someone’s racist/sexist/idiot mother says “there just is something I don’t like about Harris.” If you can’t even articulate what it is you don’t like about a person, while the alternative is voting for TRUMP where there are a thousand things you don’t like about him, I can’t even deal with you and you deserve another 4 years of Trump. |
If you ever listened to Harris at one of these hearings, you might understand why the mom does not like her. She's snarky.
Mom also may not like that the relationship she had when she was young with the married mayor of San Francisco--who was much older than she. If Mom likes Biden, maybe she doesn't like the way Harris put him down in the debates. She essentially called him a racist. |
+1. I will literally vote for Biden/Stormy Daniels over Trump. Why is this even an almost 200 page thread? Seriously why is this a debate? |
So weird how people focus on women's personality (how she acts, talks, looks), but we rarely hear such judgement about men. Actually, maybe it's pretty telling about where we are as a nation. |
I'm the person with the mother who doesn't like Harris. She loathes Trump as much as I do and will - like me - crawl over glass to vote for Biden. I think it's foolish to scold people into liking who you like, that said - it was the approach Warren and Bernie supporters tried during the primary. You have to choose someone who people LIKE, not who you want them to like. I have been in favor of Harris as VP from the start, and remain so! I also am listening when people tell me their gut reactions to various candidates. This election seems to boil down to a referendum on how much we hate Trump - and not provoking people into deciding they hate Trump a little less because they also hate OUR candidates seems like a fairly basic notion. But please tell me again why it doesn't matter if people like so and so, it only matters if you like them. |
It most certainly was not. |
You must be joking me. |
The Democrats need votes from new demographics. Additional voters from bougie folks in areas where they already have overwhelming majorities ain’t the formula. Harris reeks of fraudulence: -Democratic Party identity politics with nothing learned from BHO’s and HRC’s failures -crappy public presence (her evasive laughter) when it most matters -her career came from her horizontal mamboing Start seeing through the Democrats’ conventional wisdom if you actually want to beat Trump! |
I think you are wrong. Just look at Trump. |
Totally agree. To have this type of personality on stage, that isn’t insecure in their position would feel like a healing balm after witnessing the terror someone with NPD struggles with. Bass, who has been described as a politician that doesn't seek headlines, was billed as the "anti–Kamala Harris" in an earlier Politico report, and responded with displeasure over the characterization. "Senator Kamala Harris has spent her entire life fighting for the people," she tweeted last week. "I would never want to be labeled the 'anti–Kamala Harris.' We're fortunate to have had her as Attorney General and now as Senator. She would be an excellent VP and the same goes for anyone else on the list." Bass' and Harris' offices did not respond to a Newsweek request for comment. The first part of the article took a turn and I think I saw a fang come out with a low blow thread to smear the judgment of Biden’s advisors. It’s catty. That is politics, but people are tired of that. The negativity in favor of KH actually demonstrates the type of rifts we *don’t* want occurring for the next president’s inner circle, and exactly why a lot of people have reservation outside of Cali. I’m also always scratching my head about these arguments for her representing the black vote - no one I know feels more than lukewarm about her.. or if they do a caveat or some mention of heightened distrust for her follows. Pulling the race card against the campaign is exactly what we don’t need. We need a strong well knit team that can be trusted to work together. VP matters for reasons discussed as nauseam in this thread. Bass is a winner in that regard. Definitely a class act. People are so tired of Trump they just want it over. Letting Bass come in helps others that don’t feel as strongly against him because they respect her work. She doesn’t trigger criticism. She won’t run a second term. Give people time to get over Trump Trauma and by the time 2024 comes, they’ll make a more informed decision and less reactive one. |
