Biden's VP?

Biden thinks he is Obama while In reality he’s a Millard Fillmore - some Random place holder.

He thinks he deserves a servile vp.

I can’t wait until he has to step down or be carried out after he wins.

Way to invoke a racist trope against a Black woman of a certain age. She is in no way servile, has plenty of opinions and the legislation to show for it but knows how to be in a partnership of mutual respect and to have disagreements in private.

Agree. I also don’t think she would be so easily dismissed as others are suggesting. To me, it seems Bass or Whitmer. Really like the appeal of a potential 1-term ticket. Kamala could position herself for 2024. Why wouldn’t she? Serving on his cabinet supports loyalty and she can add in a mea culpa for the past 5 years depending on how she fares in the next 4. I suspect her platform would be very far reaching given the civil issues front and center. This gives everyone a chance to build their case for 2024 consideration in a constructive way. Mayor Pete, Abrams, Demings, Harris, Duckworth can all strengthen their platform while real work gets done behind the scenes with a low key expert that can work across the aisles.

I love Whitmer but don't think she's ready just yet. She's another one I think needs to build her credentials as governor post-pandemic, hasn't made any progress on her "fix the damn roads" platform.

But I agree we'd have a robust crop of candidates in 2024 if the current prospects are given time to mature, some in cabinet positions yes.

Sometimes it's just politics. Warren remains on the list to appease progressives. Joes likes and respects her, but would not pick her for a number of reasons (definitely not simpatico in enough respects).

Anyone with eyes can see Harris is only out for herself. It would be stressful for Biden to have her as no. 2. Not to mention zero foreign policy experience. I'd be very very surprised if she is picked.

I want to play Devil's Advocate here. Joe has the foreign policy chops, he does not need a VP for that. I would argue that it is better he has a fiercely ambitious woman as his partner, for the precise reason that she is ready to take on the challenges that Biden would not be able to. A second fiddle will always be a second fiddle and will not rise to the occasion when the need arises. He needs a woman who can be a President in her own right and for that, he has to be able to deal with ambitious women like Harris and Abrams.

Wrong, this is not a traditional scenario since it's entirely possible he won't last long in office. Voters want reassurance the VP can step up to deal with North Korean and China when necessary. This VP slot cannot be given to a rookie, particularly with the godawful mess the Biden admin will inherit.

Servile? Unlike many of the other prospects, Karen Bass has held a number of leadership positions. She and Warren are the only two who inspire real confidence in their grasp of policy and ability to get things done, and I don't think Warren will be selected for the reasons many PPs have enumerated.

The more I consider this, the more appealing Bass becomes. A true public servant that doesn’t seek re-election, and we also show the country that it isn’t always about a hungry power grab. Demonstrate that we can deliver on our promises, and better understand the growing middle/moderate voice that is waiting to be adopted. I feel much more comfortable choosing someone for 4 years right now, than I feel choosing someone for 8. I think a lot of voters would appreciate that perspective, actually. 2016 took us so much off course, but with a person who will execute a strategy for the country who’s part of the covid cleanup crew, it gives voters a well thought out opportunity to truly define what the party stands for. We can engage to address our differences early and in new ways. Tired of drama and power plays from egos. Have a very low tolerance for another person itching to make a name after 4 years of pride, arrogance, and selfish Egoism. Biden already had a name. Bass doesn’t really want anyone to know hers. Not too old, and not too green. Both sides commend her. I like that.

Yeah, I think Jill has made an effort to play ball in case it seems Harris is the best pick for whatever reason, but she's a little reserved with her in appearances and the vibe between them is not great. Whereas you can clearly see how much she likes Duckworth. If Dodd and Jill are not on board with Harris, she won't be the pick.

I strongly agree, this election is unlike any other.

No, I wasn’t referring to bass.

I was referrring to how Biden was to Obama.

He feels he deserves a vp in the mould of his relationship to Obama.

But he’s no Obama.

This thread makes it clear: while Biden *might* win, Democratic insiders and their faithful haven’t worked on upping the anti-Trump/anti-GOP vote in a decisive way.

I’m expecting years of serious turmoil at this rate!

Blowback on Dodd's comments. Interesting it now seems to be Harris vs Bass. Love how Bass tried to defuse it, she's a class act!
