What can the GOP do? Joe Biden is the head of the EXECUTIVE BRANCH. The EXECUTIVE BRANCH is NOT ENFORCING the law. Do you get how government works? |

This is nuts.
https://apnews.com/article/arizona-border-national-guard-7f222b37ac7504bea0f0ef6a2f387ef0 So Karie Hobbs is not sending the National Guard to stop them from crossing and help secure the border. She is sending them to help the illegals get into our country more efficiently and expediently. We must vote out the Democrats to save our country. |
You don't seem to understand that the National Guard cannot legally be used to augment Border Patrol in "securing the border." But they can be used for other logistics. You also don't seem to understand the difference between someone sneaking across the border illegally versus someone legally presenting themselves at a border crossing requesting asylum, and what the laws are around those two very different scenarios. How about educating yourself a bit. |
DP. And this is exactly why one of the Republicans' proposals is to greatly tighten up the requirements for asylum - since we are all well-aware that the current standards are far too low. Most of these migrants are simply looking for jobs and do not meet any of the criteria for asylum. They should be turned back immediately. |
Interesting parallels between what's happening at our border and the migrant crisis in the UK. Very similar situation.
"Politicians and lawyers are taking the public for fools. Fewer than half of small-boat arrivals originate in countries one might expect refugees to flee—Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq or Iran. (Even then, if they’ve reached the English Channel they already passed through many countries deemed safe under international rules, where they should have applied for asylum first.) Some 66% of small-boat arrivals are men 18 to 39. Yet the British legal system insists on pretending, from the start to the bitter end, that all these arrivals are plausible asylum claimants." https://www.wsj.com/articles/how-did-rwanda-get-involved-with-britains-migrant-crisis-rishi-sunak-nhs-350a5729 |
Yeah, the first country issue is a big one for me. People are bragging that they walked through 7 countries to get here. That’s wrong. And I just sat in a plane with a bunch being sent elsewhere and several were not speaking Spanish and were darker skinned - why would they be at the Arizona border? Is my geography that bad? I’ll never, ever vote for Trump but I will start writing to my representatives. |
Some are at the Arizona borde because Nicaragua doesn’t like the US. So they are letting Africans enter Nicaragua without a visa. So now tens of thousand of Africans and Haitians and Cubans are flying to Nicaragua and making their way north. |
Seattle is going to be quite a change for them. |
LOL it's hilarious that you actually believe in Republican proposals like this. They make a lot of public fanfare about keeping migrants out, while privately the businesses they own are seeking out and employing migrants like crazy. You're being played. |
Meanwhile here in the US we also say they should be taken in by those countries they passed through on the way to the US yet Republicans behave with hostility toward those countries and want to defund any aid we send there which could help deal with the migrant crisis. So guess what - those countries pass the migrants along to us rather than accepting them themselves. |
I have an elderly brother (70s) who worked his entire life and paid his taxes and social security. They were blue-collar jobs and physically demanding and not much in wages, but he made a living.
Now he gets a whopping $900 in social security. He does get Medicare/Medicaid and "food stamps" but nothing else. He cannot get a housing voucher because those with minor children get priority, including immigrants who have recently arrived. It has been this way for many, many years and I don't see it changing. Every single time we've gone back to the housing office, we've sat among primarily young and healthy-looking immigrants with small children. They qualify for housing vouchers but my brother does not because he has no minor children. He lived in his vehicle for about half a year until I found out about it and began to financially assist him. I've been supporting him with his rent costs but soon there will be a time when I won't be able to afford that myself. The current place he lives is high-crime and the property is in such bad condition it should be condemned. There is absolutely no U.S.- nor State- nor County-funded housing assistance for him to find anything better. I am honestly thinking what would happen if I bought him a flight to a wealthy European country and once he got there he said he was seeking asylum. I've seen the elder housing and benefits they have which are far superior to anything we give our own elders. |
