They often enter things a little early but can make last minute changes before it's finalized. If you want a guarantee, wait for the official notification. If you want to get a peek early, then you need to accept that there is a small chance it will change. |
| I really want it to change cause my child did not get her friend at all. |
ParentSquare bought Remind. MCPS ant control that. Canvas is a coursework management system, not a school management system. Synergy is the system that contains ParentVue. You don't use both. Connect Ed is a content/curriculum system, not a parent communication system. Emails and Texts (and Phone Calls) aren't school apps. They are delivery methods apps use. |
ParentSquare is the same as Remind. It's been in use for almost a year already. |
+100 Also if Parent Square is the same as Remind, is this the system that sends me four copies of every message? |
aaaand this is why they wait until the last minute to tell us teacher assignments |
Get some real problems |
How lucky that your child won’t instinctively fall back to her current friends but will stretch herself to make new ones. Sounds like this has the makings of a great school year. |
| My child has emotional issue and has hard time making friends. We tried counseling, playdate, putting in activities. She only talks about 2 girls that feels comfortable with. |
Yeah, who wants old friends? They were last year's style. |
I was super irritated when they got remind and I will remain irritated by parentsquare. Why can’t they just use emails like normal people? Texts only for emergencies not for all the stupid spam they send. I would love it if synergy and canvas were integrated. My oldest is now in college and they use canvas there — she frequently remarks that her college’s design for canvas is waaaaay better than the McPS design. (She has done a lot of computer science stuff so is pretty savvy with the McPS tech capabilities.). So I think it’s a comb of the limitations on the software that is available to school and McPS not being a sophisticated consumer in setting up the software modifications in the best way possible. |
Who said anything about ditching old friends? Sad to see so many parents with basic reading comprehension and social skills issues. Make new friends but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold. |
One of the reasons for Remind was that users could receive messages in their preferred language. |

I just used this parentsquare app. Its bad.
Youre automatically enrolled in groups. When I clicked to see the posts in one of the groups, nothing happened even though it shows there is a post. Then I accidentally clicked the Leave group button and was taken off the group. Usability 101 says you require a confirmation when making a major change like that. |
| Especially if you're at a transition point, this is annoying - I wasn't getting any emails from my child's HS but was getting emails from his middle school. I reached out to the high school and they told me to get set up on ParentSquare and I had missed a few emails. Why not send out a communication to parents with a list of apps to install on your phone and a description of what each app or website does? |
