Twitter is about followers. The posters provided the content but are afraid to leave because they will lose their followers. Twitter will continue on as a propaganda tool of the right supported and given cover to by all the other posters. It has lost a lot of credibility but that is unimportant now days.

Just be careful. Threads, like IG itself, seems very loose with privacy. They’ve done stuff like recommend alt accounts to people connected to a primary account because the same WiFi or device id is used.

I don’t love Twitter now, and I have decreased my use a lot, but although it is crazy to say this, I think Musk is probably better with data privacy than Zuck.

Yes but content creators and influencers can serve up their content on both platforms until the Threads user base grows big enough. It's not like they have to cut the cord with Twitter all at once.

However Twitter's revenue is entirely dependent on user views. So every percentage of user views that go to threads cuts directly into their revenue. So for example I follow a few interest areas via twitter. This week I signed up for threads, and so many content creators in these areas migrated over that I have spent most of the week on threads. Twitter loses the ad money it would have made on those views.

I’m not sure that I understand your specific concern. What privacy are you looking for?

Good, I'm glad Mark Warner is doing this and hope it passes. My Twitter account with thousands of followers got suspended for talking about the impersonation problem. I currently can't even download my data or post a message saying I've moved to a different platform.

Unfortunately Twitter is cornering the free speech market while all the competitors divide up the censored speech market.

Honestly as a kid of the 80s I never expected to hate the free speech lulz crowd as much as I've come to. And I even grew up cheering the ACLU for getting the Nazis permission to march in Skokie. Remember when Alan Dershowitz used to be one of the good guys?

Sure, free speech so long as you don't criticize Elon, and don't criticize Modi or the Indian government, and don't say the word cisgender, and you're not a journalist Elon doesn't like, and you're not a left wing activist Elon doesn't like, and you don't say anything Erdogan doesn't like, and you don't post a link to substack, and you don't post publicly available flight data. But if you want to post violent Nazi propaganda, free speech for you!
