I’m sure MAGAs will step up to the plate.

It sucks that musk is such a depraved nut case. I really want a Tesla but spouse will not budge because of Musk. I’m going to be stuck with Subaru’s new EV cross trek. Kids are split too. One wants a Tesla and the other will refuse to drive it. None of us are Republicans.

If it makes you feel better I'm a Republican and won't ever buy a Tesla either, but I don't factor Musk into the equation of any decision to buy a car. I think that's absurd. Just like I think it's absurd not to eat at Chick-fil-A just because you don't agree with the owner's values.

In this case, Musk is right.

Teslas suck so this is a blessing in disguise. Really. There are so many better EVs out there.

I’ve had a hybrid car and now have an EV and will never go back. They’re excellent.

Same here. Spouse was really keen on a Tesla but decided not to support the crackpot. We’re looking at the electric Volvo.

And yet there are more Teslas on the road in the DC metro area than Camrys or Accords. And everyone I know who owns one loves it.

Yes, we love our Tesla. And we are pretty left politically (would never vote for TFG). We bought it for the car, not who started the company. Many people of all political stripes are employed there and they make a great American car. It's far ahead of any of the other electric cars, but buy whatever you want.

Henry Ford was a Nazi lover and people bought his car FWIW.

I wasn’t aware there were dozens of car companies during Henry Ford’s time.

Without Tesla there would be no other companies building EVs. And Tesla has patents on lots of the innovations. The other car companies are now using the Tesla charging technology. Tesla is not going away. The big deal with Tesla is the batteries. It's an energy company, not a car company. Way different from the other companies. Tesla built the car from the ground up. It is an entirely different model. They don't use car dealerships either. Nor do they advertise. You buy it direct. A much, much better experience.

Maybe not, but Ford and Musk have one thing in common. They are both innovators. Musk was the only one making an electric car when he started. The battery technology was a big deal. Huge.

Biden alienated Musk from the start by not inviting him to participate in his meetings with car manufacturers. Biden did not invite Musk because Musk does not have a union shop. Musk has not gotten over that. Biden made a big mistake then. I think he tried to make up for it somewhat later. At first Biden did not want to include Teslas for the tax credit because of the "union" issue, but then they decided to base the tax credit on percentage of parts made in the US (and Tesla is a big winner there).

The one who refuses now will change his/her mind very quickly. Like as soon as they drive it.

OMG hilarious. As Annie Savoy said, the world is made for people who aren’t cursed with self awareness.

Why is “union” issue in quotes? Elon fights unionization in his plants. Biden supports unions.
