She doesn’t like either Demings or Duckworth. Right or wrong, she feels Trump will vilify a woman of color and it will work—just like 2016. |
That was a very good article and makes a strong case for a Biden/Bass one term fix things national untity ticket. Gotta say, I think that's a good idea. But I'm also a huge Abrams fan and would also like a restore our Democracy ticket. |
The worst choices would be Susan Rice (comes across as a POC-version of Hillary, smug, polished, cosy with elites.) Not a good choice.
Kamala Harris has a kind of witchy vibe. Not someone to mess with, or trust. Not a good choice. Elizabeth Warren has the most substance and could work well with Biden's everyman, regular-people thing. But they also want/need someone who complements Biden, i.e., brings something he doesn't have... as in a certain state, a certain region, whatever. We'll see... But both Rice and Harris would be a mistake a la McCain picking Palin. |
I didn't realize Bass had been a PA and nurse. That is very appealing. This, too: "she's trusted by progressives but still respected by Republicans." |
She's impressive. She does her homework. She's involved. She has ideas. She has fight. I could easily listen to her for 4-8 years. |
Biden needs a theme. Unfortunately, I don't see any overarching theme with Kamala or Rice. Let me take that back. Rice does create a restore our alliances theme, I just don't see foreign policy as a winning theme this election. |
Kamala is a cop and her own daddy don’t like her.
Get real. Stacey! |
Stacey is a failed gubernatorial candidate (granted it was stolen from her). Her record in the Georgia state legislature is mediocre and fairly pro-business. I think she is a talented politician but she needs to run for Senate or Governor again to develop a record. Right now, all the hype around her is because she is black and politically talented, which in my opinion is quite patronizing. |
![]() Harris and Rice would both be excellent choices. I agree some voters will be turned off. Newsflash: voters will be turned off by Karen Bass too. And Elizabeth Warren. And Stacey Abrams. And every other potential pick. I hope he picks someone he likes personally and who is immediately qualified. |
Oh me too....😍 she’s fantastic |
The hype is because she is super smart, relatively apolitical, honest, not overly ambitious, someone new, and strong on voting rights/democracy issues. |
NP-I love Abrams for all the reasons you stated. Except she is incredibly ambitious. The primary / veepstakes has made that very clear. It is what I like about her. She is clear about her ambitions, and doesn’t hide it at all. |
I've had the same conversation with my parents. They're moderate Republicans. They would never in a million years vote for Harris. Biden will lose a ton of moderate democrats/moderate Republicans with Harris. I know this demographic really, really well because it's what I come from. They'll simply never vote for Harris. |
+1. |
This. He needs to pick the best person for the job required over the next 4 years. There will always be a critic. Pick the right person where criticism isn’t a threat to their success. I have my preferences but I am comfortable ultimately with whomever he selects. He could choose to select a mannequin as VP, I’m committed to the vote either way. I like what I’ve learned so far about Bass. Her humility and social acceptance is very appealing as a bonus. It will be needed for the repair work that lies ahead. |
