But

Last year Stokes went to 9 by October. So maybe -- the new campus adds a little uncertainty (will families that have younger siblings who would go to PK3 next year transfer to East End).

Yikes, we're #12 WL at Stokes. It would be a bummer if we weren't close enough!

Do you know if there has been a year when Lafayette did not take anyone off waitlist? Just know pk-4 is hard to get into there.

You don't lose WL spots if you enroll elsewhere lower on your list. (ie, if you get into your #7 school, you stay on the WL for your #1-#6 school)

We'd like to talk to parents disappointed with the lottery results and thinking about the next step for their children's education. Please email me at ndbaca@sbgtv.com. We're hoping to interview some parents at home or work by this afternoon.

how do you know you got a terrible lottery #?

We're deep (well into the triple digits) on the waiting list at every halfway decent school we put down.

Theres no public pk3 in the burbs

Not everyone is playing the lottery for pk3, the poster could be looking for middle or high school.

Yup today will be a popular day for the MD/VA boards too

They matched me for my number 3 spot but took the liberty to “Nit Waitlisted” me for schools 4 thru 12. I don’t understand.

That's how it's supposed to work. Review the FAQ.

Because the schools listed below the one you matched with get dropped off your list. This is how the lottery is supposed to work. You should still be waitlisted for schools 1&2.

Nope. You got into your #3. Everything below that drops off. That’s how this works.

That's why you rank in preference order. If you get matched at a school you preferred more, you don't get waitlisted at the ones below

How is that biased? The parents who are gnashing their teeth and vowing to take their tax dollars to the suburbs make for a better story.
