| I am starting to think that this says more about the DCUM community than Paula Deen... |
I think u misunderstand... She was not being sued for using it after the robbery...that came out during the line of questioning...have u EVER used the word and the woman was honest about it. |
And, of course, this wasn't the only time she's used the word to describe a black person. She would never admit that she uses the word frequently. Unless you're living on the fringe of society as a radical racist and routinely sharing your views, why would you admit that the word nigger is part of your vocabulary? |
I am the OP -- and i have to admire her honesty. Bottom line -- she admitted to something offensive... I don't think she is vile and hateful...demonstrated a lot of IGNORANCE.... and so u have to live out the consequences... Hey I would have done the same thing as Food Network -- not a good look for them to keep her. The woman suing her may be a liar or maybe telling the truth...who knows... |
One thing is clear. The woman suing her is white. Lol! A successful white woman. |
| So if she EVER used the word in her life, that proves the whole lawsuit? That is crazy. |
I am sorry you were rejected from UVA. |
Yes if you includes the words nigger, slave, or reference how dark a person is. Yes |
You are confused...that does not prove the 'whole lawsuit' -- how so? You ask those questions to demonstrate past behaviour in line with what you are accusing the person, prediliction for that behaviour, to discredit you if you say you have never done that 'sort of thing'...get it.... the line of questioning was to prove a broader point...it's not the nail in the coffin in the lawsuit...it just so happens it was the nail in the coffin for her public image and her career at Food Network. Understand? |
| I'm not the PP but I find it objectionable that something said in the privacy of their home 20+ years ago would become the nail in the coffin for anyone. |
|
Dumba&& Southerner who doesn't know when to speak up and when to shut it. No one sees this? BTW, that word is *not* allowed in my home. Period. |
I find it objectionable that anyone would not understand that those words speak to a mind-set and belief system steeped in a history of dehuminization, degradation, violence and oppression -- therefore... knowing someone uses them...AND could possibly be guilty of workplace discrimination...yea...like I said before...I can see how a company thinks that is not a good look for them. What is so hard to comprehend here? |
| Who cares! I bet everyone on here has used a racial slur or said a stereotype. It is what it is. Only words. Move on. America has other things to worry about. |
Ignorance Personified! |
Not ignorance, reality! It's America and gotta love freedom of speech. |
