| A local weather guy came on my FYP and said he doesn’t think any district in this area will be open at all next week. FCPS parents tend to self victimize as if they’re unique in weather closures so hopefully you all are prepared that none of us will have school. There’s not much to do with 8-13 inches of snow plus an inch of ice in single digit temps all week. |
Well it’s really only m-w. The question is if they can get us back Wednesday so teachers can go in Thursday. Friday is work from alternate location. |
Oh shut up. It’s the end of the quarter and many kids have a lot to do as the teachers frantically assign stuff to get their last required formatives and summatives in. In college you don’t sit around in classes all day long - there’s a lot more free time during the day to complete work. The break is Thursday and Friday and is between quarters. Now they may get Monday-Wednesday too but some teachers are assigning work pre emptively which sucks. |
So you want the custodians to have to stay late and clean up and lock up the schools after your middle schooler’s play at night? And potentially get caught in the snow if it starts early when they’ve said they don’t want anyone on the road? Absolutely not. Your baby will survive without their precious play and so will you. It can be rescheduled to a different day when there isn’t a major storm brewing. Perhaps the custodians have to commute an hour or maybe they haven’t had time to go shopping all week like you. |
You suck as a parent. Poor you your kid has more work. OMG getting a good education is so horrifying..... poor you.... Bless your stupid heart. |
I always found this argument odd too. The workload in public school is a lot different than in college. Many college kids go to school full time and work. It’s really not the same time management wise. The end of the quarter is very stressful for high school and middle school students. They have all of their classes with exams, final projects etc. At least in fcps there are no requirements to be in zoom classes on snow days. Hopefully these kids can get some extra time to do their assignments and some time to relax too! |
+1000 Shutting down activities on Saturday night is the right, safe and decent thing to do. |
+1 I just want my child to be able to have some relax time between quarters. |
You sound like an idiot! Lol. |
No, you’re not going back Wednesday. Ridiculous. The temperatures will be single digit only up to about 20 degrees every day after the snow and ice stop falling. |
Thank you for supporting the custodial staff. I work in a MS and our building supervisor and assistant building supervisor are unsung heroes. No doubt they will be on school grounds next week plowing the parking lots and shoveling sidewalks. BTW, it's supposed to start snowing at 6pm Saturday. I wonder how many families would brave the weather to go to a theatre performance? |
I have high schoolers and they don't need a break. This calendar has had plenty of "breaks". |
I think it's the helicopter mom who needs the break. |
| Not that I believe what it says, but TWC app has shown 1-3” since yesterday. |
Not even that early. Probably closer to 11 pm. I’m not saying they shouldn’t close, but nobody is going in until probably at least Tuesday to start clearing around the schools. |
