Belle met her ex not long after her father died, and he reminded her physically of his dad. He didn't have the temper of her father and thought she would not have the life her grandmother/mother had with their cheating husbands.

Men with opportunity especially in the finance world cheat just because they can.

Tinsley Mortimer, Tamara Mellon, Gillian Hearst are also divorced.

The funny thing is that two of the society women who remained in their society marriages are Nicky Hilton Rothschild and Paris Hilton Reum.

Wasn't Paris engaged at least twice?

People cheat because they are flawed and insecure, not because their spouse has aged.

Different people cheat for different reasons.

Paris has only been married for a short time, so the jury’s still out.

I think he sounds like a psycho on that front But, I also cannot understand how she could be married to a person for 20 years who could just walk away from his kids like that and be blindsided by that. I know how much my husband and I are obsessed with our kids.

I know. Maybe -- and just entertain this possibility -- she is not a reliable narrator..
Oh you can bet this was run through the legal department with a fine tooth comb and if this were not true then it would not have been published because he could have sued her and her publisher for slander and/or defamation of character. Her claim is pretty damning. He didn't refute it.

Yup. The only statement he made was to say that she misrepresented his relationship with his children, which is not surprising since his version of reality seems to be very different. He didn’t refute anything else.

Lauren Santo Domingo has also remained married.

Belle burden got married in 1999.

Lauren Santo Domingo in 2008. Nicky Hilton in 2015. Paris Hilton in 2021. Let’s see if they all make it to 20 years of marriage like Belle Burden did. They’re all about the same age but Belle married while she was in her 20s.

She didn't have to write a book. She just needed a you her stallion with a good D and forget about the loser

Or maybe because she is wealthy she thought it can't happen to her?

Every woman should never utter "I don't think he would ever do this to me" when their husband cheats on them. Men cheat and they will never stop. It doesn't matter if you are waitress, a CEO, a billionaire, a Prime minister, a spy. If a man is going to cheat on you, he will do so.

Burden didn’t need to write a book. She chose to write a book. She said her mother had also faced infidelity in her relationships and in her social class women were supposed to just smile, rug sweep and carry on. She wanted to defy that expectation.

Defying expectations alone isn’t a great idea. In the Modern Love podcast, she said that a friend asked why she was printing all this. I wouldn’t say this after my friend showed me her by-line, but if she told me about the idea before she published, I would have certainly asked her what she hoped to get out the experience.

I feel sorry for people who are so constrained that they live their lives worrying that others might disapprove of actions that “a friend” might deem “unexpected.”

I feel sorry for people who think that everyone (even friends) will receive their actions, even puzzling ones, with unmitigated approval.

Maybe they don't care.

Who is they?

The judge friends.

She writes that he backed down at the last minute from demanding half the share of the homes she bought with her money, but he got to keep every cent he earned during their marriage.

Reddit suggests it is someone at Arden with the initials TS (the post was taken down, I think she must have a team trying to scrub things)

I think I found who you are talking about.

It looks like it was a cross country affair? How was her husband connected to the AP. The AP seems to have worked for the same company for a long time, while the ExH had his own hedge fund.

Another Reddit post says it’s not the TS of Arden, who’s apparently the founder’s daughter. The AP was 35 at the time.

Per recent articles, Belle is 56 and her ex is 60, so closer to 30 and 34 when they married, and 50 and 54 when they divorced.

Arden Group (real estate investing) on the web is not the same Arden that Belle's husband worked for. That woman is going to attract mistaken interest.

a skinny kid who played hockey and lacrosse, not particularly well, but was good at tennis. he was cliquey and toxic. if you were not part of his inner circle, he was talking behind your back, or worse, just barely loud enough for you to hear.
He ran with the fast, rich, party kids from NYC, so I was surprised to learn in the book that his family was struggling to get by.
He had a brother two years older who was much nicer.
