Why is ICE only going after the low-hanging fruit?

I feel like we’ve reached the bottom of this admin and the deplorable MAGA Congress every day, and then it gets worse…

MAGA how do feel about criminals being let in.

I swear I need to find billboards with this stuff, though those don’t tread on me tough guys will balk and say it’s not true because Biden….

I’m confused. Are people here unaware of the concept of criminal informants and the existence of the witness protection program? It sounds like the DOJ has a CI with expansive knowledge of the Sinaloa Cartel’s organizational structure. How is this a bad thing? High value assets in witness protection remain under the watchful eye of federal law enforcement.

“Let me be direct, to the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, you are no longer the hunters, you are the hunted. You will be betrayed by your friends, you will be hounded by your enemies, and you will ultimately find yourself and your face here in a courtroom in the Southern District of California,” Gordon said.

+ 1. It’s obvious that if this unconfirmed report is true, this is a social case of witness protection with the goal of combating a cartel.

The students, Yunqing Jian, 33, and Zunyong Liu, 34, were in a romantic relationship last July, when U.S. authorities say Mr. Liu arrived in the country carrying small bags of the fungus Fusarium graminearum, which causes a disease that can cripple wheat, barley, maize and rice.

The disease, head blight, is a familiar problem for American farmers, particularly in Northern and Eastern states, according to research funded by the Agriculture Department that has tracked it in 32 states last year. The fungus can be particularly damaging to winter wheat crops.

Ms. Jian was arrested and booked in the federal courthouse in Detroit; Mr. Liu is believed to be in China. The criminal charges come as tensions mount between the United States and China over the Trump administration’s vow to “aggressively” revoke student visas for Chinese nationals. Such students, the administration says, risk siphoning off sensitive technology or trade secrets from American labs for the benefit of their home country.

The new case is distinct from most past national security cases related to Chinese students. Ms. Jian and Mr. Liu are accused not of taking material out of the United States, but of bringing it in. And charging papers specifically cite Ms. Jian’s written pledge of loyalty to the Communist Chinese Party.[b]

This is why it's important to question the presence of so many Chinese CCP students at Harvard. It also supports Rubio's efforts to scrutinize every student visa to determine if any individuals intend to cause harm or unrest in the US.

I was not aware of this until reading your post just now.

So these students were bringing in a fungus known to harm farm crops.

What could possibly be their motive?

Please tell me they weren't planning to release toxins in America?

It's a big nothingburger, IMO. Fusarium Graminearum is not rare in the US or hard to find here. It is naturally occurring and commonly found.

These people were/are studying it here in the US. I've taken flights on which I brought samples I've collected during travel. Fusarium graminearum isn't a biological pathogen, which cannot be brought into the US.

To me, it seems like the US flexing its muscles on more international students who are only doing dedicated research. More attacking academia. I find it very, very hard to believe that they brought these samples in for nefarious reasons. China is the #1 buyer of US agriculture exports. It makes zero sense for China to want to attack our crops because the 2nd and 3rd biggest buyers of US agriculture exports are Canada and Mexico, so it's not like China could go to one of those other big countries to get their goods.

I wholeheartedly support questioning such students, but it is beyond stupid and myopic to think this is happening only at Harvard. If it’s happening at Harvard, it is also happening at Virginia Tech, MIT, Georgia Tech, UCLA, Rice, SMU, Stanford and more. Why just Harvard PP.

Didn't China attack the orange crop in Florida?

I now understand why so many of these ICE agents are wearing masks. They aren't ICE agents and did not sign up for this task. Apparently, DHS/HSI has tapped all branches (FBI, USSS, DEA, ATF, and even IRS) to send agents for ICE taskforces. They are hiding their faces because they don't want to be doxxed when they didn't sign up to do ICE raids & deportations.

This friend wants out. He also said ATF is a mess with no leadership. He's pushing through to July which is his 20year mark.

And think about what isn't happening...ATF staffing doing aTF jobs, FBI counterterrorism, not doing their jobs, FBI domestic terrorism, not doing their jobs. We are going to have more catastrophic events because there is no one minding the store.

Guess you didn’t hear about the arrests today of the Chinese nationals charged with agroterrorism.

DP. No, I did not. Please provide a link and TIA

Thisis prevalent in the US and Canada. DHS and Trump are using this in their fear-mongering. Like most everything in the Republican repertoire these days, it is a bunch of BS seeded with irrelevant facts.

Of course they weren’t successful taking the murderer into custody because activists interfered.

NP. I tried to fact check this story and no local news sources like the Boston Globe, WBUR, or Boston area non-Fox TV stations confirm the details in this x post. I am not going to take Faux News' word for it. Given the fact that Fox News is MAGA State News and the fact that ICE lacks transparency on their operations, I'm going to need to see more evidence on this or any other Faux News claim before I believe it.

Those local media are not going to cover this story. They are secretly happy that it happened. This is a sanctuary city. Which means it is a sanctuary for criminal aliens.

You don’t have to believe it. Truly sad that these idiots have shielded a suspected murderer.

Except for all these Democrat run areas that have a policy of not holding criminals for ICE to pick up.

You are so damned naive.
Read the DOJ news release.
Then read CNN’s account of how it was smuggled into the US.
Had it been released it could have had devastating effects to our crops and livestock.
