In April, 80% of asylum cases heard were denied.
There are fake asylum seekers, many of whom do not even show for their court cases.
TPS is temporary, and was never intended to be used on such a large scale.

The violent/nonviolent distinction is meaningless. Identity theft, distribution of fentanyl, possession of child pornography, and possessing a handgun after a felony conviction are all nonviolent crimes. Do you think those types of criminals shouldn’t be deported?

That’s not what the data shows. It shows that about 35% have a prior conviction and that 7% have a conviction for a violent offense. PP implied that those 35% don’t pose a risk to the public because their convictions are nonviolent. My point is simply that a nonviolent offense isn’t necessarily trivial.

That's consistent with the general population - FBI interstate index shows that around 70% of US citizens have no prior conviction and 8% of US citizens have a felony record.

As such, deporting illegals really doesn't change overall crime or risk stats. But again, we demonize and smear them and depict them as a national risk and as dangerous criminals even though the data shows they're really no worse than US citizens. Why?

Look, nobody is arguing against deporting violent criminals. The problem is that most of them aren't. We need farm workers, construction workers and so on. We need a visa program that will let them come and work, provided they don't commit any crimes. Why is that so damn hard for Republicans to comprehend?

We have many visa programs, including for agricultural work. We also hand out a million green cards a year, plus more than that come as automatic issued green cards for family chain migration.
No need for more to come illegally. The ones who came here illegally already should be deported.

Seeking asylum or being granted TPS status is not illegal. Why is that hard to understand?

In April, 80% of asylum cases heard were denied.
There are fake asylum seekers, many of whom do not even show for their court cases.
TPS is temporary, and was never intended to be used on such a large scale.

That was happening under Biden too. The problem has always been with the backlog and inadequate resources for hearing and adjudicating those cases. Even Obama requested more resources so that the 80% who did not meed asylum criteria could be sent back more quickly. Republicans refused.

If there are more than enough visas as you claim, then why are businesses still hiring illegal workers? There is CLEARLY still an unfilled and unfillable labor demand that illegal labor is filling. That means there are NOT enough visas. How about just accepting reality, that you are wrong about visas?
