Please, explain how the tweets did anything?

Elon has 200 million twitter followers, a big chunk of whom are MAGA types. Yesterday, Elon began tweeting incessantly for hours complaining about the CR, describing it as "criminal," and threatening to primary any republican who voted for it. He also urged his followers to contact their reps and demand they vote against the CR. He tweeted at least 50-100 times about it over the course of a few hours.

And? Why is this an issue? If the public doesn't like the CR they should contact their reps. I believe the democrats call this democracy and the nice thing is this all happened in the public view. Not sure what the issue is...

A rich foreign guy manipulating the public isn't quite Democracy. Why weren't people contacting their reps before Elon went crazy on X? What is really sad is that these people don't seem to think for themselves. It was a bipartisan effort that was going to help vets, storm victims. But if Trump or Elon say jump, these people say "how high?" Probably the same fools who make fun of "sheeple." It doesn't bode well for the future of Democracy.

deal struck.

Interesting that Rs fought for subsidies and disaster relief aid funding for hard hit areas, mostly in red states.

So, basically, the Rs wanted welfare.

I stated that the government shutdown would've hit MAGA land hard. MAGA land can now breathe a sigh of relief that they got their welfare, too.

That's from two days ago. Keep up.

haha. you're right. But, my last statement still stands.. guess MAGA land will be hurtin because they won't get their welfare.

Oh boy isn’t this the truth. These people parrot back whatever they’re told without any insight into the utter hypocrisy of it all.

And these are the same people who will bleat on in the comments of articles about how useless feds are, we should be fired, blah blah. Oh but also we’re so essential to the functioning of the government that many of us have to keep working. So which is it? Am I a useless waste of tax dollars or am I so required for the health and safety of our nation that I must keep working without pay? These idiots cannot string any logic together.

If we shut I hope the current heads of agencies take a very conservative approach to labeling people as essential (aka excepted because apparently we can’t call be non-essential). I used to get furloughed but the last couple times I was excepted from furlough because it is up to the current agency leadership how to define the roles. I’m really hoping our outgoing agency head decided F it and keeps barely a skeleton crew. If the country decides it doesn’t need us then they can live life without us.

It’s weird for sure.
And Trump is basically silent?

If Musk hogs all the media attention and Trump sits quietly by that will be a real indication that Trump’s dementia is advancing rapidly.

Our poor country.

Trump has been bought and paid for. When Elon says jump he has no choice but to obey.

For real. I thought we'd at least make it through Christmas and New years without drama.

If Trump sits quietly by, it will be proof that Musk bought him the election and we’re watching Trump being blackmailed live.

The algorithm tweeted it. I wish these bast ards would risk being primaried for the good of the country. But, people are selfish.

they should. if they back down on this - there is no hope

Imagine the tweets when the Mall is barren bc flights were missed/cancelled bc people had the flu. A shutdown is exactly what is needed at this time. I hope the algorithm starts tweeting that ... give the GOP what they want!! PLEASE!!

The issue is our government-and specifically Republicans- is not able to function as intended. It’s kind of adorable you think it does.
