Dorsn’t that just show how impossible drug interdiction is to begin with? If 2 lbs leads to half a million doses and just one random stop yielded hundreds of pounds of fentanyl then it doesn’t matter how much you stop there will always be plenty that gets through. The drug war has been lost and we need to change strategy from interdiction to harm mitigation.

You are truly clueless.

The reason fentanyl and other drug interdictions have gone up exponentially is because the cartels are taking full advantage of Biden's soft-on-border-enforcement policies.
They make sure to send millions - yes, millions - of migrants across the border - illegally - which pulls border patrol agents from patrolling the border and working at ports of entry in order to process, transport, and care for the millions entering illegally. They have also pulled agents from our northern border. And, who wouldn't have guessed that the northern border is now becoming a crisis.

When border agents are not able to do the jobs they were hired to do - patrol our borders - then they are not there to prevent got-aways from getting away. And, these are the people carrying the illegal drugs and other contraband.

Watch one of the hearings the Republicans are having. You will learn a lot from the testimony of border agents and chiefs.

There has never been a time ever in the history of the USA that drugs have not been plentiful and easy to procure. Every single Republican president and every single R majority in congress has had the exact same problem. You are just trying to partisan points. Anyone serious about the drug issue would not focus so much on immigration since that is not the main driver of drug use. Demand is.

The people carrying the drugs- you mean the CITIZENS who overwhelmingly serve as drug mules? I also think border agents should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time, but I can understand that horsewhipping defenseless illegals crossing on foot is probably more appealing than opening up a thousand drug-stuffed teddy bears in a tractor trailer or meticulously taking apart every car.

No, actually drug cartels do not send drugs unless there is a buyer. The cartel won’t send extra drugs just because of some minor details changing at the border. Do you actually think that cartels have any trouble at all no matter how much security there is? Drugs flow freely in super max prisons that have more layers of security than any border could possibly have.

If we actually bothered to have a meaningful overhaul of our immigration policies and be very clear about what our policies are, so that we wouldn't just have as many people who are not eligible showing up randomly at our border, along with the people who are eligible able to go through the process without having to show up at our border, it would be a lot less overwhelming for CBP to deal with. For example, actually giving work visas to the hard-working, gainfully employed people who are already here. We need to stop wasting our time and energy on the majority of current illegals, who are harmless people who just want to work and feed their families so that we can focus on the tiny percentage of illegals that are involved in gangs, cartels and illegal activity.

There isn’t a legal immigration path at the moment for most people from developing countries. The education doesn’t exist there to propel someone to get an aych won bee, for example.

I think you mean: Biden and Dems want to offer amnesty and a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. Republicans do not. Nice strawman, though.

Um, no. People who come seeing amnesty are not "illegal" first of all. Law allows them to be here. And Dreamers should absolutely have a path to citizenship.

DP PP is correct. It’s called a wedge issue. If you vote in the US, you need to understand this. Otherwise you’re a tool. It’s not an insult, just a fact. Understand how politics work so you are less susceptible to being used for other people’s benefit.

DP
Seeing that Biden has created a disaster at the southern border - and considering that the northern border is now becoming a crisis - I think we will see that the Republicans will indeed craft a bill that will force Biden to take border control seriously. You can bet that it will NOT include amnesty or a path to citizenship.

Question is.... will Democrats vote for it? Will Schumer even allow a vote in the Senate?

+100
Exactly. Democrats are the ones holding things up by their insistence on giving amnesty/a path to citizenship to illegal immigrants. I don't think the PP is able to grasp this fact. Ironic that she is the one calling others "tools."

NP. You're full of it. There is NO proposal to give all illegal immigrants amnesty or a path to citizenship. If you're going to say this, and you have, link to the proposal. But, you can't b/c you're spouting lies.

The GOP could have passed immigration under Trump, they had all 3 groups that need to pass legislation (house, senate, and presidency) but like infrastructure, they couldn't get it done. Like healthcare, they couldn't get it done. Other than tax breaks for the rich, they got nothing done. So you can point that finger at the GOP.

Nah, I’ll point my finger at the courts that stymied his plans

You REALLY ARE CLUELESS.

"I also think border agents should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time"...... Kind of hard to do their jobs when they are miles away babysitting some UAM or processing or transporting a group of illegal migrants. How the hell can they patrol the border?

"horsewhipping defenseless illegals crossing on foot" - You must know that this was totally false. Totally. There was no whipping. These agents were vindicated despite the best efforts of the left.

Wow. Aren't you kind?

This mother is correct. Why Congress hasn't held any hearings on this crisis until now is unforgivable.

"I don't use the term overdose, because this was not an overdose - this was murder," she said. "My children got fake Percocets."

Fake Percocets - filled with deadly fentanyl.

"Law enforcement made it clear to me that this fentanyl came from Mexico," she said.

Kiessling testified before the Homeland Security subcommittee on border security.

"You talk about children being taken away from their parents - my children were taken away from me," she said.

Mexico and China have been blamed as being the main cause for the influx of fentanyl - a factor in many of the nation's overdose deaths, say The Centers for Disease Care and Control.

"We have a weather balloon from China going across our country - nobody died but everybody's freaking out about it," she said. "But 100,000 die every year and nothing is being done - not enough is being done - numbers are going up, not down."
