Queen Elizabeth Funeral

One of the British reporters sniffed at her lack of a hat. And it’s time for the messy blonde hair to get a proper cut.

Can we make this an H & M free zone please?

Very well said

"Spiritual piety" is the head of a church covering up and ignoring her own son's sexual crimes?

"Spiritual piety" is the new head of that church cheating on his wife, the mother of his children, for decades?

How very interesting?

You're correct of course, there's a great deal of deep seated hypocrisy there. It's practically a tradition in itself.

Of course. Just look at the religious right and their support of Trump.

I think I missed something: why did they walk a long way with the coffin and then put it in a hearse to drive it somewhere?

The new Princess of Wales should share her secret on how to have well-mannered children and it should be mandatory reading for all American parents!

Agree, the children were exemplary. Princess Charlotte even knew how to smooth her coat beneath her to sit on it without crushing it, as she took her seat in the car leaving the chapel. Many an adult does't know that.

Not to be contrarian though--OK, it's definitely contrarian--I wish they would retire the title Prince of Wales. It's rooted in centuries of subjugation of the Welsh. Titles based on actual landholdings (like Duke of Cornwall or Duke of Westminster) or on landless honors (like Earl of Wessex) are one thing, but Prince of Wales isn't that. Yes, we have relatives in Wales, and they find it an annoyed eye-roll at best, and truly offensive at worst.

Point noted. But if the position of Prince of Wales didn’t exist, how many in the world would even know there was a place called Wales?

The Queen’s coffin is underground. There is nothing more to discuss but those who remain.

We obviously will never know, but the Queen Mother was young enough to have more children at the time of the abdication. Do you think they purposely did not have more, so that a boy would not displace Elizabeth?

What a question. DCUM, you never disappoint.

Yes. Boy, the British really know how to do these right.

They do church services really well. The choir, unsurprisingly, is amazing.

I was at a church in DC yesterday for a baptism and the choir was amazing and sang God Save the King and the preacher spoke about his service to the Queen. Is there some connection with the embassy maybe?

Was it an Anglican Church?

It was Christ Church Episcopal. I was surprised with the connections to the Queen but it was lovely. I want to go back just to hear the music

The Episcopal Church is the Anglican Church so you'll get that music at any Episcopal service.

Not quite correct but the Anglican Church and the Episcopalian do share hymns.

It may have been that she had difficulty conceiving Elizabeth and Margaret. The rumor was that they were conceived by artificial insemination because Bertie could not maintain an erection because if his ill health.

That’s why William was stationed in Wales and lived there during military service. Hoping to get admiration from the Welsh.

On the other hand, Harry is living LA hoping to get admiration from Meghan's crowd.

Don’t think so … more like trying to make his wife happy and adjusting to life as a senior British royal would have been overwhelming for any foreign commoner … the royals Made a mistake in cutting them loose as they would have helped to bridge huge cultural gaps for younger British and commonwealth citizens …

They were upset by racist British press coverage. How was the royal family supposed to stop that? Meghan saw everything as spectacle and assumed they were "acting" for the public. She didn't realize all the protocol would translate to her private life as well. Diana said she felt she wasn't well prepared for life as a royal. I think it is ironic that Harry couldn't prepare Meghan either.

Um, the actual family had conversations about how dark Archie's skin was likely to be. Don't blame the press for that, darling.

According to Meghan. Who already wanted out.

Wasn’t it said to Harry who told Meghan? I’m guessing it was William or Kate which explains the animosity William has towards Harry.

As the Queen herself said of this supposed conversation, “recollections vary.”

Her little girl bow looked ridiculous. I have no problem with her style in general, but this was an occasion to represent the US with dignity.

No they didn't.

He’s walking next to a 7 foot giant who is a doppelgänger for Stephen Merchant lol

I believe they were her personal ushers. I’ve seen them both in pictures of her the past couple of years. The tall man looked very sad.

Tall Paul, he was the Queen's most trusted aide.

There was a younger aid walking in front of the casket today as well. Just as tall as Paul, but more like 30. I wonder if it’s his son.

Tall Paul is "only" 6'4". This was one of the Queen's former private secretaries....
