Frisch's opponent endorsed by the Republicans was extremely right-wing (probably further right of even Elizabeth Schultz) and of course had no chance running in a year when local voters were keen to vote for Democratic candidates to signal their opposition to Trump.

The problem was that a much better candidate had sought the Democratic endorsement in 2019, but she focused on boring education issues rather than spouting off all the progressive talking points, and wasn't as much of a party boot-licker as Frisch, so she couldn't get the FCDC endorsement.

Yes, his opponent was really extreme... I think her entire platform was just being against sex ed in the classroom. It was very hard to vote for her.

Who else sought the Democratic endorsement in 2019? Is this public knowledge? I only remember him.

I can't find much on her campaign online. I'm in Frisch's district. We were moving out of the country in late 2019 so I admittedly didn't pay much attention to the race, but I did have these two weird loons approach me at my home twice, before the election, to rant against Frisch because of all the terrible things my kids were going to be taught if he got elected. That was enough to convince me to not vote for his opponent and cast a vote for him.

I will definitely be paying attention to who runs for his seat. I can't campaign due to Hatch Act restrictions, which sucks.

Just FYI, most federal employees can campaign for a partisan candidate on their own time, they just can’t *fundraise* for a partisan candidate. They can donate funds, attend fundraisers themselves, canvas door to door, and share information on their own social media page as long as it isn’t aimed at raising money.

NP here. While what you wrote above is true, please remember that the DC area has a high number of career SES employees, who do have more restrictions just like the PP was saying. So it’s likely PP really can’t campaign against Frisch, even off duty.

County magisterial districts don't align precisely with state House districts. The old 35th HOD district (the seat for which Frisch is running to replace Keam) includes some areas in both Hunter Mill and Providence as well as some areas in Fairfax that are in either Braddock or Sully. In future elections there will be state HOD and Senate districts based on post-2020 census redistricting.

He moved within the last 6-12 months from one part of Providence into another (near Tysons) to be in the 35th and then in the new district when the new lines are enacted. He’s a carpetbagger.

I was happy to see Ethan Lynne, one of the most promising young Democrats in Virginia (and now a student at GW), endorse Holly.

Holly has a number of endorsements from current House members. Karl has endorsements from a bunch of other School Board members - maybe they just want to see him go.
