Unbelievable that he is seeking re-election. What a loser! He needs to go. He has not only accomplished nothing but he’s worked against the interest of his constituents. He is a loser.

I asked him for assistance with a specific matter related to my kid's school, and he never got back to me. I won't be voting for him again.

Frisch was pushing at the work session on the CIP to delay FCPS capital projects on the theory costs might go down in another year or two.

Couldn’t help but wonder if he wants to delay the Dunn Loring project because he knows how angry Marshall pyramid parents are going to get when they start changing all the ES boundaries to justify that boondoggle.

Really? I feel like this entire thread has been unusually (for dcum) focused on his actions, and nothing to do with his personal life. What post do you think is "just wrong"? I have major issues with Frisch based on the fact that he was clearly NOT devoted to the FCPS board because he is trying to give it up, abandoning the families in Providence district and leaving them with no representation for the next 2 years, while he climbs politically. I agree with the PP. The name-calling. The level of hatefulness in posts. The nastiness and vitriol. You don't have to say explicitly bigoted things to be bigoted. And even if you really think you're not bigoted, you're a pretty awful person. If you think it's ok to attack someone in the manner he has been attacked here . . . And FTR, I am not in his district. Don't have an opinion on him. And only have 2 years left in FCPS so I really don't care.

I'm sorry, NO. Disliking Karl because he seriously screwed up what could have been a very simple boundary change does NOT make the people on this board bigoted. Absolutely not. YOU ARE WRONG. He screwed up and people are not going to vote for him because of that.

Karl ruining again will be a litmus test for just how uniformed and willing to vote a straight D ticket voters in Providence are. Many Democrats in his district who know what he’s actually done and failed to do will never vote for him again.

There is not one republican in the US worth voting for in any race from President to the lowest office of lowest school board etc. NEVER AGAIN Ever...

Did you not see yesterday the Missouri Legislature's first order of new business how women dress????? Oh for god's sake, ladies wake the hell up. And yes this trickles down to schools these republicans will book ban they will push school choice they will ruin it all with Christian Nationalism. And yes it trickles down to this race as well.

I'm sure it gives you a rush to post these types of generalizations, but I'd want to know what someone running locally for School Board signs up for before they accept a Republican endorsement.

If it means wholesale allegiance to a GOP agenda at the local, state, and national level, I'm out.

However, if it doesn't, they may well get my vote, because the Democrats who currently represent us on the School Board (magisterial and at-large) have been disasters - a mix of hypocritical, dishonest, and disengaged. In theory, I have absolutely no problem supporting a Democrat like Mark Warner or Tim Kaine for the Senate while doing my part to kick these scoundrels on the SB to the curb.

Getting the Republican endorsement does not mean wholesale allegiance to the GOP agenda at the local, state, and national level. It only means that they approve, at the local level, the candidates position regarding education. They may disagree with the candidate in other areas. It's one of reasons why some are not thrilled about Harry Jackson since he's not MAGA and is pro-diversity.

If you live in Providence and are zoned for Marshall, be aware that the new Dunn Loring ES that Karl championed is not needed and that, if it ever opens, will require massive, unnecessary boundary changes involving multiple schools in the Marshall pyramid (at a minimum, Freedom Hill, Stenwood, and Shrevewood). He's also done nothing to plan ahead for future enrollment growth in Marshall, even though FCPS's longer-term projections indicate that Marshall could pick up more kids in the coming years than any other FCPS high school due to the construction in Tysons.

If you live in Providence and are zoned for Oakton, be aware that Frisch took money that had been earmarked for a new school in Fairfax/Oakton, and re-routed it to Dunn Loring to save Blake Lane Park. Even if you don't think Fairfax/Oakton needs a new school now, or that a new school shouldn't have been built at Blake Lane, that money is now gone and your pyramid won't be getting it back any time soon. Meanwhile, Frisch let FCPS move ahead with plans to expand Mosaic ES (formerly Mosby Woods ES) to roughly 1050 seats, which is huge for an elementary school.

If you live in Providence and are zoned for McLean, be aware that Frisch stood by idly as Elaine Tholen pushed through a limited, one-sided boundary change with Langley that still leaves McLean severely overcrowded, and has done nothing to help McLean get the overdue permanent addition that it has needed for a decade.

If your main concern is having a School Board member who advocates for LBGTQ kids, or protects the rights of FCPS librarians to stock their library shelves with whatever books they deem appropriate for readers, Karl is certainly your guy. And if the GOP endorses someone whose agenda is to defund the public schools in favor of vouchers, and you believe in public education, he may be your candidate as well. But when it comes to the oversight of basic operational and planning decisions, there have been few School Board members who have done so much harm and so little good in recent memory as Karl Frisch.

That’s a horrible choice! C’mon normal providence folks — anyone else want to run???? It’s a crappy job that pays nothing and makes people be mean to you BUT it’s so important. We need better choices!
