Karl Frisch running for House of Delegates

He’s a joke! I hope everyone realizes that. He solely acted in his own self interest.

As someone who's not a parent of a kid at FCPS and never has been, nor will be soon, his views on the School Board should be irrelevant. It's a travesty that someone w/ no direct connection or experience to the schools is taking up his seat (no, his spouse being a teacher does NOT count).

On the other hand, having a school board member be a parent or soon-to-be parent of a child in FCPS isn't necessarily any better. Their votes would be biased to favor their child's school and pyramid. I actually prefer having candidates with interest in helping the wider community without skin in the game. At least I find it easier to believe their votes would be far more neutral.

The problem was that he ended up not having a "wider" lens on the community. He ended up making crucial decisions based on his own household concerns. That's not kosher.

I won't be voting for him again.

Oh damn!

I just heard earlier today that Keam was leaving his post... and now I see that Frisch has the lock on the Dem's candidacy for Keam's district. And looks like I'm going to still be in the district that Frisch will be representing. That sucks. Frisch, as a dem, is a lock for this seat too. Well, I guess I can skip voting for him and he'll still end up representing my district. And he'll be there a LONG time b/c this district is going to stay blue.

... depressing...

He doesn't have the lock on the D nomination, at all. Holly Seibold is also running and has a lot of grassroots support. https://www.hollyseibold.com/

It's sad that she'll be fighting against a local party machine that rewards scum like Frisch and will never acknowledge what a poor job he has done on the School Board.

Ha. Good luck. Following McLovin and that didn’t go anywhere for him…

What does this mean for his place on the SB? I’d rather he be one of many in the House vs. one of only 13 on the SB. …. I mean I’d really rather him not be in politics at all buuuuut 🤷‍♀️

If Frisch has even a shred of decency he resigns his School Board seat now to focus on the new campaign.

Another vote for him to resign!!

He was an awful pick for school board. I still remember him crying about having his husband (a FCPS teacher) go back to work during COVID.

He’s an idiot so it’s not like he’d do a good job in the House of Delegates either.

I don’t like it when people leave their elected position to run for other offices. They should do the job they were elected to. Actually I don’t like that Keam is quitting his post either. Getting elected to a position is not like a normal job.

Frisch’s entire shtick is claiming you must be virulently anti-gay if you think he’s doing a bad job. It’s blatantly manipulative and tiresome.

Good riddance!

+100

He’s a terrible politician. I’m not surprised he is running and the SB (if he quits) will be better off without him. But I don’t want to see him succeed in any elected office just because of how poorly he managed his position on the SB. He was scum.

Seems there should be a special election for both seats at the same time as otherwise the county will have to shell out 2X as much money (the last special election supposedly cost the county about $250K).

The 89th District in VA had a special election when Delegate Jay Jones resigned. Candidates were chosen by caucus - in that case all Democrats registered to vote in the district could vote in a drive through caucus. http://www.norfolkdemocrats.org/89th-house-district-nominating-caucus-for-the-january-11-special-election/

I guess Fritsch will be the state based on Mackay and Beyer. In FX for school board non-partisan you had to pay to join to pick candidates for the election ballot. Arlington you don't have to pay.

It really is amazing that 216 people or rather 62% of that or 134 people living in the Providence District resulted in Frisch on the FCPS school board. Billion dollar plus budget. Over 52% of our local property taxes. Now he's being given a seat in the VA House of Delegates. https://www.blueview.org/2019/04/24/karl-frisch-wins-providence-school-board-endorsement-by-wide-margin/

It really is time for this state to go partisan on school boards so we get primaries. So 134 people [political hacks?] gave this county Frisch instead of Jung Byun, who has a degree in STEM-works with data, was on FCPS career and tech committee:

So depressing to see a school board hack fail upwards.

Byun was a far superior candidate to Frisch for the Providence School Board seat. Frisch has been nothing but a total embarrassment for the FCDC ever since he was elected. The text messages discovered by the plaintiffs in the TJ litigation revealed that other SB members (for example, Pekarsky) viewed him as dishonest. He certainly hasn’t served any of his constituents well, apart from his friends who wanted to preserve the dog park.
