Huma Abedin

This all feels pretty inorganic and manufactured. Very few people buy books, especially by a nobody hack like this. Who precisely was clamoring for this book? Nobody. This is likely just a racket to give this hack a bundle of money via bulk buys and speaking fees arranged by you know how... perhaps so the real juicy secrets she's privy to never see the light of day? Who knows.

Puhleeze yourself. What does a person need to do in your world to show behavior that's a risk to others? You think he's just fine now?

No kidding, pp's post is quite alarming. He's a convicted SEX OFFENDER, pp raise the bar in your life...seriously. Many people didn't want Bill, Wiener, and Huma in the white house. If Hillary was smart she would have gotten rid of them all before she ran.

Even if he's "just icky", women need to stop marrying and breeding with men like this. Who wants dweeby, ugly, icky children?

they do have a child, you know. why are you taking this way about him?

it’s ok to love and marry faulty men.

They are both not good looking. He’s just plain ugly but their kids is pretty cute. Isn’t there how it always works out?

No Huma was never good looking by American standards. I feel bad for her because it will be hard to date anyone because they will know Wiener is part of the deal. Mainly because of the child. People with a solid reputation with anything going on would smartly pass.

Exactly.

He and Ms. Abedin, who still works for Mrs. Clinton, are finalizing their divorce, but they live down the hall from each other in the same apartment building.

Again she is her biggest enemy. Many poor choices along with H.C.

Can't trust him with the kid either.

Harsh but true. She and her husband are the reason HRC lost and that is undeniable. Huma was the biggest hate-talking point on the campaign trail and that was well BEFORE the FBI scandal with her laptop in October.

Saying that Huma is why Clinton lost is the saddest cope.

Heard her on 1A today. There were some interesting parts.

Probably been done to death but I felt really bad for her that she's been duped into believing that Weiner has a compulsion and she hopes her kid will thank her one day for helping his dad.

Just holy lack of boundaries Batman.

The "is she attractive?" discussion is indeed superficial, but interesting to me. I think that Huma is very beautiful!
I am a first-gen Greek-American, and in my experience I don't find agree when my non-Greek friends find certain Greek women (and men) attractive. I just don't see it.
I wonder if there is a more general phenomenon, of divergence in the attractiveness judgments of in-group and out-group members?

This is totally a thing among Chinese folks. If you want to hear brutal judgment, ask a Chinese person whether the think Lucy Liu is pretty. There’s literally newspaper articles about how ugly she is. I think there’s both culturally specific standards if beauty and a sense of outrage when somebody from your group becomes recognized by the mainstream—like, who does she think she is? (I think both Huma and Lucy Liu are attractive, and I found the post minutely detailing Huma’s flaws bizarre but also fascinating.)

She is not pretty compared to the other much more beautiful women posted in this thread.

I also happened to hear it (had really no opinion about her at all going in) and found it so, so scripted. Meaning her, not the show itself.

She sounded like the standard political type whose every word is controlled for PR effect. I found it painful to listen to.

Daily NPR show covering a host of current issues - it's on from 1000-1200 on WAMU:

I guess she sounded scripted during the political parts, but I found the parts about her family (of origin) sincere. Her description of her co-parenting relationship with Weiner was cringeworthy. He has her snowed and stuck.

I don't think it's because she's attractive.

I think being married to Anthony Weiner is a big part of it, and basically being Gal Friday to Hillary for so many years (bill Clinton officiated her wedding ceremony. They were just very close and I think people assume she knows where the bodies are buried).

She's the living embodiment of the collateral damage from being close to power.

+1 I find her glamorous and fascinating but also a cautionary tale. She was Hillary's heir apparent. She was featured in Vogue. Her wedding dress made her look like a princess. She was set up with her husband by the president, and at the time, Weiner was being compared to Kennedy. They were the most promising political couple in America. And their romance was so American-- he a new york jew, she a Muslim midwestern girl, both making the world their oyster.

Fast forward and it's all a nightmare for her. I still get chills thinking about her standing next to him at the press conference for his first sex issue. She was being both the good wife and the good employee by keeping all her pain inside and making herself small.

This was her mistake. Trying to mirror Hillary when she should have dropped him as soon as she found out.
