It's been five years. Why are they still 'finalizing' their divorce?
He and Ms. Abedin, who still works for Mrs. Clinton, are finalizing their divorce, but they live down the hall from each other in the same apartment building. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/06/business/media/anthony-weiner-nyc-mayor-race.html |
+1 I find her glamorous and fascinating but also a cautionary tale. She was Hillary's heir apparent. She was featured in Vogue. Her wedding dress made her look like a princess. She was set up with her husband by the president, and at the time, Weiner was being compared to Kennedy. They were the most promising political couple in America. And their romance was so American-- he a new york jew, she a Muslim midwestern girl, both making the world their oyster. Fast forward and it's all a nightmare for her. I still get chills thinking about her standing next to him at the press conference for his first sex issue. She was being both the good wife and the good employee by keeping all her pain inside and making herself small. |
+1 Eliot Spitzer. Ugh. John Edwards. Ugh. |
Bill Clinton. Ugh. Andrew Cuomo. Ugh. Elliot Spitzer. Ugh. |
| A parade of powerful men led by their wieners to disgrace. |
| She spoke fluent Arabic, right? She was like a translator for HRC. She has a book tour. Never thought she was any big deal. |
I guess so? I had to look this up because I thought she was from Michigan. But it turns out she was just born there. She actually grew up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and didn't return to the US until it was time for college. That surprises me, Jeddah is super strict. Yikes. |

Honestly there’s a lot of things that irritate me about her. I think HrC’s inner circle was filled with climbing yes-men and she was one of them. I also thought it was super skeevy the way she worked out a deal to keep her private industry salary while working for the government. No one does that. You give up the $$$$ and then go back to it when you’re done with service. It took some chutzpah for her to negotiate that. And it seems like it was mostly so she could afford a life of luxury in designer clothes, shoes, salon, etc. Just really a lot not to like there.
Some of the other women mentioned on this thread, my heart breaks for. Elizabeth Edward’s probably the most. She was clearly totally blind sided, and after everything she went through with her son, and then the cancer. He was such a huckster. I wonder whether his older daughter has ever really forgiven him for breaking her mother’s heart that way. |
| Tony Weiner seems scarce. |
What about the second time when they had a documentary crew following them for his 2017 run for mayor of NYC and she found out on live TV that he had another sex scandal? That was just...wow. |
| Nobody would describe her as gorgeous. Weren’t there rumors she was HRC’s lover? |
Still around. I can't see any other reason why a candidate would keep around as friends AND an employee someone who literally killed off their campaign for presidency - twice. She also never divorced Weiner. If it was anyone else they would have been burned a long time ago. John Edwards deep-sixed his camera aide and its been 10 years and he still has nothing to do with her.

She is very gorgeous to me. Maybe people that only find blue eyed blonde women the epitome of beauty would disagree. |
She sort of has Kennedy teeth. |
She’s not gorgeous. Amal Clooney is gorgeous and smart and successful and has a better husband. |
