What’s going on with the two bills?

Everything’s her swan song. The massive UI bill (the one in October 2020) that was canceled in favor of Trump’s LWA was supposed to be her big win.

She could have stepped down at the gavel anytime.

So what’s going to happen? I don’t see the progressive wing voting for the infrastructure bill until there is more certainty.

Are we heading toward December fiasco?

Yep. The progressives have no idea what they're doing. Debt ceiling, budget reconciliation, and federal shutdown all in the same month just before Congress takes off for Christmas.

Jayapal, AOC, Omar and Porter have been in Congress for less than three years. They're leading this standoff and they're legislating themselves into a corner with all kinds of pretty bows.

It sounds like the Progressives are holding the line, and I'm glad they are. If they pass the BIF now, they have no more leverage.

How much leverage are they going to have when they pass nothing, then lose the House and Senate because Dems can't get anything done?

Argh. Trying not to feel so bleak. I know big change never comes easily. There's a fight now, and there was always going to be a fight now - and at the same time it is giving me agita.

I can't wait to hear the progressives crying bloody tears on XMas talking about 'leadership walked out on us'. Okay dolls.

Ooops here's another cliff to add to the pile. I believe that is five massive votes that the Dems must hold in December thanks to the progressives.

Debt ceiling, Federal shutdown, Highway spending, the new BBB/social bill, and of course - the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

And, as each day passes, Biden’s approval numbers in continued decline. Gonna be tough to get these bills passed.

Have Manchin and Sinema even committed to supporting the budget?

It’s complete chaos right now within the Democrat party. Moderates blaming Progressives and vice versa. We are back where we were in September (except now Biden has approval numbers in the basement).

No we are not. The framework has been decided on. Progressives are in support of BBB, even with losses. What they are not in favor of doing is rushing a infrastructure bill without real language in the BBB (the devil is in the details) and Sinimanchin’s very lukewarm statements. Progressives are willing to work through the weekend and want to vote next week.

I don’t get all this hate toward the one group who are actually advocating for Biden’s agenda.

Their job isn't just to swing for the hills for only the things they want and pack off their toys if they don't get it. Their job is to govern and legislate which the progressives are doing a poor show of and by extension - impacting Biden as well.

“The framework has been decided on.”

The “framework” had also been decided on in September, back when the Senate and House agreed to a $3.5T framework. That was the whole purpose of Pelosi promising a 9/27 vote to the moderates, for their support of the framework.

Look where that got us.

Why is amnesty for illegal immigrants included in this bill when the Parliamentarian specifically said it couldn't be?

Incorrect. There was never an agreed upon framework with budget cost. There was never clarity what programs would be included. There is no but until Manchin and Sinema give better assurances there is no reason for Progressives to give up their leverage. They WANT both bills to pass. That’s why they were willing to comprise from 6 t, to 3.5 t to 1.7 t. Potus and Progressives have given up a ton while corporate Dems have whittled the bills down to a pittance. The bills are still good, but not what we need.

Think about this: Democrats know they need to deliver something yet they need to have the votes of Manchin and Sinama who are absolutely willing to go home with nothing. Just like the GOP, They do. Not. Care.

Seems to me that there are more Senators AGAINST the boondoggle bill than for it.
Why should the progressives (an oxymoron, IMO) get what THEY want when the majority totally disagree with their demands?
And, if you think $1.7 is a pittance, you are really, really bad at math.
