I don’t think a verdict that’s not in his favor would really bother him. He wanted a public trial to tell his side so from that perspective he will win.

Does he really think the studios will hire him after this? This case highlights how unstable he is and how clearly unremoreseful he is and how he's learned absolutely nothing.

I'd never hire a guy after watching this dumpster fire that, remember, he brought about.

I wouldn't hire her either. One of the reason being that she's a truly weak actress.

This. She was in idiot to bring this on herself when she is guilty of the same actions she’s accusing him of because she has zero actual talent. It’s very clear she’s slept her way to all of her roles. Does anyone believe she would have landed Aquaman on her own without any association to JD?

You know she’s not the one who started this lawsuit, right?

She started this whole mess with her Op-ed

An Op Ed that didn't name him at all or allege any behavior from him. He's suing on absolutely nothing.

But he’s gotten what he was really after, which was exposing that she was an abusive awful liar. His “twin flame”. Her behavior wouldn’t have come to light without these lawsuits. He’s accomplished his goal.

Do you realize what you’re saying? Maybe you do but I can’t tell from your tone. Nothing about this trial redeemed Depp. If anything, his reputation is even worse now because even more of his awful behavior has come out. If his objective for this lawsuit was just to try to destroy Heard’s reputation, well, maybe he accomplished that but all it shows is the lengths he will go to get revenge on someone he believes has wronged him. If anything, I think studios will be more reluctant to hire him in the future because in addition to worrying about delays and cost overruns due to his drinking and drug use, but they would also have to worry about him suing them if he feels like he was in any way mistreated.

Depp filed this defamation case against Heard claiming that he has lost income and acting opportunities as a result of her published Op Ed in which he wasn’t named. The jury will be instructed to reach a verdict based on evidence and expert testimonies that Depp either:

1. Has been blackballed from future employment due to the Op Ed
OR
2. It is a result of a substance abuse disorder, erratic and unprofessional behavior on sets, inability to perform his job, and studios weighing the cost risks of production due to this list.

Heard’s legal team already has enough confirmed testimony and evidence that Depp exhibited these disorders PRIOR to:

1. Heard filing a restraining order against him
2. Heard publishing the Op Ed piece that did not name him.

Entertainment consultant, Kathryn Arnold, stated that she is a forensic entertainment consultant who has been deposed hundreds if not thousands of times in legal cases involving actors, studios, and agents. Her testimony was powerful and her stamina was unmatched by Wayne Dennison’s cross examination. (Depp attorney)

Depp lost his libel battle against the publisher of The Sun newspaper over an article that claimed he was a “wife beater”. The judge reached the conclusion that the claim was “substantially true”.

Arnold said of the 2020 trial: “Every allegation of abuse, every text, every email, all the audio and visual stuff was brought to light and made public. The industry was watching closely and it’s hard for studios, especially one like Disney, to be connected to a star that has texts about burnt corpses and violent behavior.”

She added: “Every time Mr Depp brings a lawsuit, because he’s such a well-known public figure, the spotlight goes on him, whether it’s against his business manager or his former lawyer, even when he filed his talent agent, it becomes news…

“Then they look at the details. The erratic behavior, the financial issues, the drinking and drug abuse was part and parcel of every one of those, and it was all brought to light yet again each time.” She believes it is the result of his alleged increased use of alcohol and drugs.

Additionally, Tracey Jacobs, Depp’s former talent agent of 30 years, was succinct and to the point.

Jacobs said, "his star had dimmed" because of frequent lateness and drunkenness on set. A lawsuit against Depp in 2017 described his lifestyle as costing him about $2 million a month. He was an exceedingly “difficult” client who had “fundamental anger issues” and drew multiple complaints from film crews on “virtually every movie” he worked on. “Word got around. It made people reluctant to use him toward the end.”

Depp is in denial that he was already under scrutiny prior the Op Ed:

“Johnny Depp, who claims that Heard’s op-ed about being the victim of domestic violence had defamed him and cost him tens of millions in future work, including a starring role in another installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, made by Disney. However, Disney production executive Tina Newman testified that she had “never seen any documentation that referenced the op-ed, never discussed it and did not hear of or partake in discussion of its impact.”

But there’s more…both Dr. Spiegel and Kathryn Arnold stated that this defamation case directly “correlates” to Depp’s traits of narcissistic personality disorder because it is what narcissists do. Depp created a world stage to defame and slander Heard. In his pickled brain, he needs a stage— any stage to outperform everyone including medical, psychological, and industry experts. Look at his body language and behavior in the courtroom. The jury box is less than 100 feet away from the Depp team. Vasquez is a snotty, arrogant, flirty attorney who thinks her shtick of making fun of witnesses is going to propel her to glory. Ben Chew is the awkward, unpopular middle school kid who’s delighted to ride on Depp’s coat tails. Wayne Dennison is a twitchy, awkward man who’s not winning any points by disrespecting expert witnesses. And the fist bumps when they believe they “scored” on cross exam.

Heard and her team have maintained their composure and professionalism. One or more on the jury will consider the behavior of Depp’s team as unsavory in their decision. Depp lied about his severed finger in text messages to his doctor. He specifically said he cut his finger off. He later lied again saying that Heard cut off his finger. And again, he lied that he didn’t initially state Heard cut off his finger because he was protecting her. Is this believable? Has he shown any pattern of protective behavior towards her in their marriage? Does this case protect her?

Wow. You need to take a break from this.

Agree. I'm shocked he continued to work at all in light of the complete absence of courtesy toward everyone involved in the production of his films. Has he even acknowledged how rude, unprofessional, and costly his behavior was? And still claims he doesn't have a *real* substance abuse problem wth?

He's also facing a lawsuit from someone he assaulted on a movie set. At this point, I doubt insurance will cover him.

So his goal is just to ruin her not reallybhelp himself.

Yeah, honestly it's this fact that makes me believe her. A rational non abusive person wouldn't waste millions and expose all those terrible stuff about themselves to hurt another person. This is vindictive cruel behavior.

Sure, you're telling me you're just gonna sit still while someone accuses you of every crime in the book? You don't want to waste millions to defend yourself and expose the truth because you don't have those millions. JD does have the money, so I don't see a problem with him spending that money and trying to tell his side.

Her innocence, or lack thereof, is irrelevant. He was abusive and lost film roles because of his erratic and unprofessional behavior, nothing more. Her oped was a non-factor.

+1

Disgusting behavior. I’ve lost all respect for him.

Yes to the two prior posters above (DP here). While I knew only a bit about Depp’s behavior and his marriage to Heard prior to this trial, I would describe myself as somewhat neutral about him prior. Now I’m repulsed. I’ll never see another one of his films. Ever.

And for those engaging in “what about” in terms of Heard’s behavior, she has proven - if nothing else - that Depp abused her. She may be imperfect - and she is - but she’s a victim and had every right to assert herself as such. As a prior poster said, so many posters have NO IDEA what living with an abusive addict is like. It’s hell, especially because they are - as is Depp - often likable at times and charming and even occasionally kind. But that doesn’t negate how scary and abusive they can be and when Heard describes her experiences, not only do I feel for her, I absolutely believe her.

This trial has shown Depp to be a monster and no matter how imperfect Heard is, that’s not what Depp was likely after.

Fantastic summary, thank you.
