Again, help me to understand why Blacks can't be anti gay marriage

Do Blacks need to remember their place?
The Nazi's killed homosexuals too, so it would stand to reason that all Jews should be out there marching for gay rights.

Ok, but is that the only group that has done this? What about the Orthodox Jews? Also many many ethnic minorities who absolutely hate Blacks...and the many gays I know who hate Blacks for no other reason than being Black. I have to deal with one such woman at work every day.

I think the issue with Blacks this area, at least, is that they have actively fought to deny gay rights -- frirst in DC and now in Maryland. I don't see the same active effort to discriminate from Orthodox Jews or Muslims.

It's not that black people can not personally agree with gay marriage.

NC voted to make an amendment to their laws that allows discrimination. The last time that was done was to discriminate against black peoiple.

Please cite the name and date of the discriminatory amendment prior to amendment one.

I seriously doubt no discriminatory laws have occurred between laws that discriminated against blacks and amendment one.

Really. There are many white gays who do not like Blacks simply because of the color of their skin. Why is that?

Good point. There are racist gay people who hate blacks (for reasons unrelated to the perception that all blacks are against gay marriage).

Why is that? I'm pro-SSM, but the thinking that "because you've been discriminated against, you must love everyone ever" is stupid. You shouldn't discriminate against others because it is wrong, not because your racial/ethnic/social/gender group has been the victim of discrimination.

Women were discriminated against for who they are. Why are some women anti-gay marriage? The first Europeans in what's now America came here because they were discriminated against for their religion. Why are some of the descendants of those people anti-gay marriage?

Before the 1960s, I can guarantee you there were white gays who preached hate every Sunday, while the congregation (with some gay members of the congregation) nodded their heads in approval and took a leading role in institutionalizing discrimination.

Progress takes time. Black civil rights were an accomplishment that was centuries in the making.

Luckily, the tide is turning and more Americans are in favor of same-sex marriage than they were ten or even five years ago.

Blacks in NC came out en masse encouraged by their pastors to vote against gay marriage. Look at the voting trends and maps etc. Places like Research Triangle voted against the amendment and heavily black areas voted for. Hypocrites.

Because we are a people-loving people? We are inclusive and forgiving? We embrace people at the margin?

Basically, we are better than the cheap, petty behavior that accompanies homophobia. That's why.
