SATC New Season - And Just Like That...

I loved the original and am hate-watching AJLT. This new show is desperately trying to address not being a show " just for whites/straights" by parading out gay women, black women and whomever else they were criticized for missing/ not representing in SATC. It is so laughable + obvious that the characters should wear signs like " hi I' m black in case you did not notice" or " I'm a gay woman with buzzed hair so you wouldn' t fail to notice". It is trying way too hard to be " current" + cool.

There are too many characters now and it’s impossible to know them well enough to care.

The show could be great but Michael Patrick King is a terrible writer of women. I wish they had more female writers like they did on the original show.

The show got a deserved raft of sh!t for being totally white when NYC in the 90s was most definitely not, however I have to agree with you that this is clumsily done. Carrie’s boss who was pregnant and in a wheelchair made me LOL (although that actor is great, she won a Ront for Oklahoma IIRC.

This show just needs to go away. What a joke. I'm embarrassed for these women.

Does Cynthia Nixon need to show skin in every scene?? It’s really odd and more than I remember Samantha showing. I get that her character is discovering herself but all her nakedness is already old. It’s like a substitution for better writing. SMH

It's crazy this woman is almost EGOT and a celebrated stage actor and they have her flailing around wet in a bathroom. And little SJP is having bra-on missionary.

Cynthia Nixon preparing to wear a strap-on was not on my bingo card.

+1. Walking around with lab babies and having promiscuous sex is so creepy. Who does this crap appeal to?

That scene was actually sort of funny - but sort of horrible.

I am up for a story about a woman, who heading toward 60, suddenly tosses aside her whole life to pursue something new that seems urgent and authentic to her. I feel like usually we get men's stories about doing that - and it's sort of refreshing to see a woman flail through this, as she makes mistakes, and acts horribly, and tries to figure out who she is and what she wants at this stage of her life.

She didn't want to sit on the couch and eat ice cream with the comfortable partner anymore - I think we can all understand that. And now she's making a mess of things while seeing what she does want.

There is something so acutely painful about watching her do it. It might be a testament to CN's acting - or to the extreme awkwardness of the writing. I guess that's what I am never sure of here - if the show wants us to feel mortified and awkward through this, or if that's accidental. I hope it's intentional. I hope that Miranda has a real arc here. (I hope to gd it's not with Che.)

Carrie refusing to do one commercial killed an entire agency? Lol to Carrie's reaction to multiple people losing their jobs because of her - she freed up her week.

I think the implication that she caused that was a joke. I am annoyed that in all the discussion of her refusing to read the ad no one mentioned that those products are always BS and sometimes harmful, though. Seems like a wasted opportunity.

LOL, true. I appreciate they're showing middle-age ladies with healthy sex drives but this was unexpected. But despite her best efforts, she has zero chemistry with Che and it's uncomfortable to watch.
