SATC New Season - And Just Like That...

I think SJP's hair looks amazing, the best it's ever looked. Cynthia Nixon's hair is a lighter shade of red, and suits her just fine. So much better than the gray. Kristen Davis's hair should be lightened, a little too dark and harsh-looking for her fair skin.

The show could be great but Michael Patrick King is a terrible writer of women. I wish they had more female writers like they did on the original show.

Che and Kristin's Upper E Side friend don't add anything, show would be better without them. Really like Nya and Seema, even if I agree with a PP that Seema needs to be better differentiated from Samantha.

LOL, true. I appreciate they're showing middle-age ladies with healthy sex drives but this was unexpected. But despite her best efforts, she has zero chemistry with Che and it's uncomfortable to watch.

For the life of me, I don't understand why they didn't pair Miranda with Nya. That would have made far more sense in terms of general compatibility. I understand wanting to introduce a non-binary character/love interest but forcing it in the absence of chemistry doesn't do anyone any favors.

I appreciate that the first ep had more sex and fashion, felt more like the OG.

Oh I like the Nya Miranda pairing! That would be hot.

But I also like Nya’s arc as it is. She’s a fantastic character and I love the actress.

I think the implication that she caused that was a joke. I am annoyed that in all the discussion of her refusing to read the ad no one mentioned that those products are always BS and sometimes harmful, though. Seems like a wasted opportunity.

It was also so peculiarly prissy. She hasn’t evolved at all.

Agree, Karen Pittman is a gem

The hair looks great …it just doesn’t match their faces and looks ridiculous on them.

They're aging. What do you want them to have, granny hair? I agree Kristin's hair is a bit dark but otherwise they all look great.

I don't think they do. I think their looks are all so fussy and hard now. Except Seema and Nya - they both have an ease about them still. Fantastic clothes, gorgeous hair, beautiful women, and an ease. The others look pinched and uncomfortable. Their hair is overdone.

That scene was actually sort of funny - but sort of horrible.

I am up for a story about a woman, who heading toward 60, suddenly tosses aside her whole life to pursue something new that seems urgent and authentic to her. I feel like usually we get men's stories about doing that - and it's sort of refreshing to see a woman flail through this, as she makes mistakes, and acts horribly, and tries to figure out who she is and what she wants at this stage of her life.

She didn't want to sit on the couch and eat ice cream with the comfortable partner anymore - I think we can all understand that. And now she's making a mess of things while seeing what she does want.

There is something so acutely painful about watching her do it. It might be a testament to CN's acting - or to the extreme awkwardness of the writing. I guess that's what I am never sure of here - if the show wants us to feel mortified and awkward through this, or if that's accidental. I hope it's intentional. I hope that Miranda has a real arc here. (I hope to gd it's not with Che.)

It’s absolutely intentional! It’s meant to be cringy, and Cynthia Nixon is perfection. It’s so hard to watch, I have to pause the show and cover my eyes because I feel revolting pity for her LOL.

I do like the show. It manages to piss everyone off, which means it’s doing something well. Conservatives say it’s woke nonsense, liberals say it’s performative…I like the clash between their relatively traditional values and the modern 2023 psyche.

She's on The Morning Show on Apple, too - pretty different role, terrific in both.

I didn't go back and watch last season but I don't get why Nya is so upset that the musician she married wants to tour...like, he is a musician? The surrogate and the woman in the room, that I can see be mad about but she was already upset with him before any of that.

If I remember right, she's just feeling really disconnected with him - because of the pressure he was putting on her about the baby, but also I think they were growing apart. It's heightened by him being on tour (and hanging out with this other woman). I think that's it.
