Trump tariffs: ruin U.S. economy until 2040

Q. Have tariffs created net plus US jobs?
A. No

Q.Have tariffs caused net negative US jobs?
A. Yes. See the independent ADP jobs reports if you don't trust BLS.

Q.Are US citizens paying more because of tariffs?
A. Yes. $1200-$2k more per household

Q. Has US manufacturing shrunk because of tariffs?
A. Yes, every month of Trump's presidency

Q. Have tariffs weakened US economic power?
A. Yes. The dollar is weaker, our former trade allies are now forming alliances that leave us out, and anger at the US has caused boycotts of our products as well as loss of US tourism revenue. This WILL be made drastically worse should we take Greenland and p*ss off our allies further.

Read the thread and the links in it, there’s lots of evidence. You meanwhile have provided none.

The SCOTUS tariff decision is due any day now. It’s going to be quite embarrassing if his scary Greenland tariffs don’t last a week

Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland would face the tariff, which would be raised to 25% on June 1 if a deal is not in place for “the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland” by the United States.
I would think NATO is in jeopardy at this point. I think Europeans would be happy with their own alliance. Given the success of the EU, I don’t see another inter-European war. And Russia is too weak to attack Europe, and only getting weaker given their declining fossil fuel economy. Its very expensive for the US to maintain troops and bases there, and the benefits seem nonexistent to the US, other than being drawn into a future European war that is unlikely to happen. NATO’s time has come and gone. Shut it down, and save some taxpayer money.

Europe knows NATO is on borrowed time. They are pouring money into EU defense so they’re ready. The US is not going to like it when there’s another military power that does what it wants and it no longer has access to European bases.

Yes. There is only so much disrespect the EU can take from the USA. It was forgivable for American voters to make a mistake once on Trump, but a second time? Nope. It will take time for the average American to understand this, but the US has accelerated its loss of influence on the world stage seemingly on purpose, for no reason except that Trump is mad. Even with sane leadership, preserving American influence on the world stage was going to be a tough proposition with the rise of China, and it would have needed all its Allies. But NOW? America has no friends. It has countries it does business with. Soon, it might find itself out of all major trade deals, as other nations look elsewhere for stabilizing ties.

Why does the US need access to European bases other than to defend Europe? Agreed, they are all grown up after 75 years of parenting and can defend themselves. Close the bases and bring the troops home. We are on the same page. Southeast Asia is where the action is.

USA bases in Europe have prevented more world wars. That peace and stability has benefited US companies, US workers and the US economy more than any other in the world. Trump is flushing that down the toilet to the benefit of Russia. China, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Trump said he doesn’t remember promising Americans tariff dividend checks. His supporters are schmucks.

The DOW lost over 900 points today, Nasdaq 561, and the S&P 143 points. The Euro of course was up for the day.
