Trump tariffs: ruin U.S. economy until 2040

However, I almost feel like the more he messes up, the "quicker" the reckoning comes and we end the destruction?

It's like being on a sinking boat. Nothing is helping it the quicker it sinks, maybe more people will realize the danger of the destruction and get off the damn ship! OR - fix what needs fixing so it stops sinking LOL

This sort of we go 5 steps back every week and move 1 step forward every month...it is the wrong direction. Maybe we're still moving forward but at this rate... it's meaningless?

Something needs to shake the country up and for all of us to finally unite and agree that stuff is broken here. Until that happens, we're in a tail spin that will continue for who knows how long...

There’s no “renaissance” coming for America. Our problems are deeply structural and cultural. Empires decline and that’s our future.

The claim comes from the same place all of Trump’s claims come from: fantasy land. The wonder is that the GOP parrots it.

I do not disagree with that thought. I think however that there's a lot we can do to actually kick out Trump and his like by not voting for these types however. Our problems are deeply structural and cultural for sure and unless we change those there's no fixing anything but it's not impossible if enough and the key messes are even modified - it'll be interesting to see if younger voices have a say. As radical as I think Mamdani is, he got elected and his agenda is definitely not the traditional one that feeds into the conceptual failures that are driving us towards decline.

Trump lies, and MAGA believe him. But, the numbers don't lie.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/us-trade-deficit-surged-in-december-ending-2025-nearly-identical-to-2024-after-year-of-erratic-trump-tariff-policy-145140825.html

The US trade deficit jumped by almost 33% in December, rising for the second month in a row to $70.3 billion.

The data released Thursday by the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis also provided an annual tally for 2025, totaling trade in both goods and services at $901.5 billion. The total for 2024, the last year of Joe Biden's presidency, was $903.5 billion.

The new reading came just hours after Trump claimed that trade deficits were already down and offered a bold prediction for 2026 that the trade deficit would "go into positive territory during this year, for the first time in many decades."

So much winning. /s

They held the IEEPA doesn’t authorize tariffs. Trump loses. Again.

Trump can get away with a lot of things, but he can not mess around with people’s money.

It was not a unanimous decision. The usual suspects dissented 6-3, Trump lost. The American people won. Finally.
