You won't notice once you get you 5000 dollar DOGE check, your 2000 dollar tariff check and the US economy shakes off Biden and goes stratospheric!

American consumers paid 96% of the tariffs. Coupled with still high grocery prices and everything else, like healthcare, that $2000 check won't go that far.

DOGE actually didn't save Americans much money.

I think you were being sarcastic, but not sure these days.

Spouse's startup is looking at leaving the US and going to Europe. Business does not like chaos.

Business also doesn’t like red tape. Good luck with all of the rules and regulations. The first thing I’d do is hire a bunch of lawyers to tell you that you can’t do things. European business environment is crap for anyone trying to be agile and innovative. BTDT.

Yes. We are likely in a recession. And if congress doesn’t step up to the plate this month maybe we can avert a depression.

Wait Congress banned itself from tariff legislation? Unreal.

This is such tortured language that it is completely unclear what the GOP is doing or why. Perhaps that’s the point?

We are in tech and looking as well. We keep getting email and social media about foreign countries needing our skills and recruitment paths. Europe really wants American tech refugees.

You clearly don’t work in tech. Europe has a large amount of cloud development. Europe also knows a lot of Americans want out of this nightmare. DOGE fired a lot of highly skilled, highly educated people.

Those environments have not historically been attractive to companies and people with such skills, and nothing has changed apart from a perception that while things there are bad, they may (or may not, depending on your perspective and politics) be getting worse in the U.S. From the frying pan into the fire? It's not so clear-cut.

What is clear cut is that Europe remains a rule of law environment. Everything else is detail. While the EU labor market is difficult for small businesses and bankruptcy is more difficult, there is certainty and clarity for long business planning horizons. The United States no longer offers any of these things.

Europe is so much more livable. I wish I had skills that would make me desirable. Instead I get to live in this s h i t hole country.
