You solve the immigration problem by following the laws on the books and enforcing them, not like the lawfare the DNC pushes today. |
I get that. But here's the point I'm trying to make: Trump tried his best but couldn't repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Why? Because it was passed by Congress and signed into law. If the current immigration laws are so difficult to enforce (and let's be honest, migrants were flooding through the border during Trump's administration too), why couldn't Trump have signed a new law that left no ambiguity? |
One simple reason. The Democrats insist that any immigration reform includes mass amnesty. And, that is not happening. That would simply reward law breakers and be a magnet for MORE illegal immigration. Why can't Democrats understand that? |
For two years Trump had GOP majorities in both houses of Congress. He could have acted without any help from the Democrats. What legislation did he sign? |
Different terminology to mean the same thing…it’s eye-rolling. You clutch your pearls for social justice to appear to be a better person but your marketing language falls short. |
I'll answer that: he signed a tax cut for the wealthy and corporations. And before anybody brings up the filibuster - it's not enshrined in the Constitution, and Republicans abolished the filibuster for SCOTUS nominees because they truly cared about putting Gorsuch on the Supreme Court. If they truly cared about immigration reform they could have abolished the filibuster for that too. |
The two that were killed in the car crash were innocent..... they were not present illegally and we hit by the human smuggler. Just two people minding their own business who have become victims of Biden's border policies. Yes, it is emotional. Their children are distraught over their deaths. |
And, you have Harry Reid to thank for that. He got the ball rolling. You leave out that little detail. And, no.... they are not going to abolish the filibuster for legislation. There is a reason it is in place. We have seen, over the past 3 years, why eliminating the filibuster would have been disastrous. |
You mean to block civil rights legislation? |
They care about keeping immigration as an issue to get their bigoted voters riled up, that’s for sure. Plus they can count on their voters to repeat whatever garbled nonsense they give them to defend the GOP for not getting legislation passed. Republican voters don’t demand a lot of consistency; they’re pretty happy being mad all the time. |
It's back. The perennial effort to allow citizens of one country (India) to monopolize the employment green card categories, and reward the companies who replaced US workers with visa workers.
https://x.com/FWDus/status/1725212083699192302?s=20 Go Democrats! Replace as many US workers as you can! |
The only ones who object to civil rights legislation are Democrats. Study some history. |
The House Republicans passed HR 2, Secure the Border Act of 2023. Chuck Schumer won't bring it up in the Senate. |
I have, thank you. And I find your use of the present tense interesting. Jesse Helms *was* a Democrat. He switched parties. Same for Strom Thurmond. The ones who object to civil rights legislation are White southern segregationists. Guess which party calls this type home these days. |
