I think he has plenty of reasons not to if he doesn't - including the U.K. being the epicenter of a contagious variant at the moment, the U.K. just recently putting countries on no-travel red lists, his wife in her third trimester and unable to travel, and the restrictions requiring that he quarantine 10 days before-and-after travel to even enter the U.K.

PP, I don't know where buzzfeed is getting its information. The period of mourning is going to last 8 days. We certainly will get things for birthdays and anniversaries, etc.

8 days is the super-mourning. 30 days is the regular mourning that follows.

Now that Prince Philip has died, the Queen is expected to enter a period of mourning, meaning her state affairs are paused. This will likely be eight days long. A further period of royal mourning could last another 30 days, with duties suspended.
