Prince Philip has died...

I think the working members of the royal family is now down to 9 people and a dog. Only 2 of which were under 50. If only they could have foreseen this happening...

The Titles of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh was granted the style and title of Royal Highness on 19 November 1947; on the next day, 20 November, he was created Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth and Baron Greenwich, of Greenwich in the County of London. These peerages are hereditary and on the death of His Royal Highness have passed to his eldest son, HRH The Prince of Wales. In the event of the Prince of Wales or any subsequent holder of these titles succeeding to the Crown, these titles and all others held will merge with the Crown.

His Royal Highness was made a Prince of the United Kingdom by Letters Patent of the present Queen dated 22 February 1957. A declaration of the same date communicated Her Majesty’s will and pleasure that her husband be known as His Royal Highness The Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh.

His Royal Highness’s style and titles will be declared at his funeral by Garter Principal King of Arms, in accordance with custom.

You understand that you are blowing the minds of these prats with a reference to the Garter Principal King of Arms.

Who cares? They are all a bunch of jerks! The whole lot.

It means no celebration, birthday pictures, or real recognition for W+K's 10th anniversary.

The horror! A real loss for humanity.

God, you people are annoying. If it doesn't interest you and you don't have anything to add, I don't get why you comment.

PP, I don't know where buzzfeed is getting its information. The period of mourning is going to last 8 days. We certainly will get things for birthdays and anniversaries, etc.

8 days is the super-mourning. 30 days is the regular mourning that follows.

Now that Prince Philip has died, the Queen is expected to enter a period of mourning, meaning her state affairs are paused. This will likely be eight days long. A further period of royal mourning could last another 30 days, with duties suspended.

What if this had happened right before the London Olympics?

The Crown is a work of fiction. There are much better, real references in Philip’s many biographies.

They would have gone on I think. All the British athletes would have been expected to wear black armbands though.

Many people care, including the Queen’s subjects in worldwide commonwealth countries. Many have high regard for him.

Projecting one’s inadequacies on another is not flattering

Phillip also died on the anniversary of his mother-in-law's funeral.

How strange. They're saying his funeral date will be next Saturday, April 17th. But he'll have 30 mourners not 15.

So many idiots on Twitter. Ignore Ignore Ignore.

He lived in Nazi Germany with his sister who was a Nazi and named her child Adolf

He was sent to live with his sister in Germany when he was a child. He had no choice in the matter - his mom was in an asylum and his dad abandoned him to live as a playboy in the South of France.

He went to a boarding school in Germany run by a Jewish headmaster. When the headmaster was forced to flee by the Nazis to Scotland, Philip followed the headmaster to the Scottish school.

Philip then fought in the war against the Nazis/Axis powers on the European seas.

Anyone calling him a Nazi because of his older sisters' decisions are idiots. The guy literally battled the Nazis in WW2. Lots of aristocratic families sullied their names by supporting - explicitly or tacitly - the Nazis. There's no indication Philip was a stooge for the Nazis.

10 bucks says Boris promised to increase the numbers allowed by then, reflecting progress on vaccination.

Thank you for sharing. If PPs are going to judge Philip for his sisters involvement with the Nazi party, they should also credit his mother for sheltering a Jewish family in Greece during the Nazi occupation in the same period, for which she was recognized by Yad Vashem in Israel. His family broke up, and was all over the place during the war.

If its 30 mourners that solves a few problems and adds some non-family or family cousins to the list:

The Queen
Prince Charles
Duchess Camilla
Prince Andrew
Princess Anne
Capt. Laurence
Prince Edward
Countess Sophie
Prince William
Duchess Kate
Prince Harry*
Princess Beatrice
Edo Mopelli
Princess Eugenie*
Mike Brooksbank
Peter Phillips
Zara Tindall*
Mike Tindall
Viscount James
Lady Louise
David Armstrong-Jones
Sarah Chatto
Duke of Gloucester
Duchess of Gloucester
Duke of Kent
Duchess of Kent
Prince Michael of Kent
Princess Michael of Kent
Archbishop of Canterbury (religious leader)
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

I don't think Duchess Meghan is coming as its rumored she's nearing month 8 of her pregnancy. There was a stupid British paper that said Fergie would be there - not a chance. I also don't think Peter Phillips will be bringing the woman he is divorcing as he was caught last month at another woman's house.

*Pregnant spouse or post-partum.

He literally just announced the new numbers on Monday and they don't take effect until the 12th. He would look like a fool to up it with only 5 days between it.
