PREACH! That’s what this individual has been doing for months though. Popcorn worthy |
I looked and analyzed your list very carefully and I even googled to find the 3rd and 4th Place Finisher but couldn’t find Spain (Barcelona or any glimpses La Maria) anywhere. LMAO |
| La Masia is the best soccer development in the world. You are all ignorant and do not understand the sport. |
Actually it is not. It’s La Fabrica. |
Post of the Month! |
Spain is used as an example of how far countries have come in a very short time. And by the way you talk about our superiority in women’s soccer you would think that we have won every World Cup. With our unbelievable talent and insurmountable lead how did we not make it to ALL the World Cup finals? And I can’t believe we lost a World Cup Final. And what is with Germany being in 3 Finals and winning 2 in a row. Do you think Germany thought they would never lose and had it all figured out when they dominated for a decade? So just stop acting like the USWNT will never lose. And demanding even more from the team and our development in the future should not be so triggering. The reason the PDA vs Barca game was shown was to demonstrate how two young teams who represent both their nation’s collective style, being played at the highest youth level could give a glimpse down the road. It also put on huge display the disparity right now. You can deny what you saw all you want to but it happened. We are not well equipped tactically to compete against such a well coaches team with similar athleticism. Our overall national youth development is pretty bad if that is our best against their best. The reason we will always be contenders is because the college game keeps our women engaged in the sport at a high level. The college game doesn’t develop players but it also doesn’t let top talent slip through the cracks either. But that is all the college game will end up serving as, a wide net. Yes we have NWSL, which most women play in after four years of college. Four years of college will be lost development time to women who are spending those same four years in a professional academy training without NCAA rules. The next decade is going to be very interesting. |
Haha. No one said anything about how dominant USA or Germany is. What we said is how completely absent your “dominant” Spain Team (La Masia or La Fabrica) is. (Kudos to the PP that came up with La Fabrica.) |
Nobody said Spain was going to win the next World Cup. What has been said is that countries like Spain are heavily investing in the women’s game now. The Barca vs PDA game demonstrates how far they have come in the youth game in a very short time. Remember, that game was the finals. Barca played well, just as did PDA during the entire tournament but the finals were not at all close. Our argument for why the USWNT would stay on top is because of the sheer numbers and quality of our youth programs in comparison to Europe. Well, that was a youth game and we didn’t look very good. That was a team that hadn’t lost a game in two years and they were completely owned. They played the way they had been successful for two years with little opposition and they couldn’t keep or win back the ball. They thought that through sheer speed and aggression that Barca would wilt and make bad decisions with the ball. The US played the best US style game a youth team can muster and they were embarrassed by a youth team playing the best version of their national style. The girls didn’t adapt because, as sad as it is, by U15 they had never been forced by any team trained well enough to ever have to play another way. |
PDA could not play the way Barca did. Even if you had them train with the Barca coaches for a year. The player selection is totally different. The truth is PDA would pass on all the Barca players because they do not fit the system. The US game(specially youth soccer) is push the the ball by the defender and make it a foot race. It’s a dumbed down one dimensional game with premium put on speed. It works because youth soccer at its highest level is just high school soccer. The Barca girls play a free flowing modern game- Whole is Greater than the Sum of its Parts. PDA plays a very individualist old school game- Whole is Not Greater than the Sum of its Parts. For the Barca system to work you have to have technical players with a premium on soccer iq. This does not mean the Barca girls are slow or lack size. Technically does not mean slow or small. In the US there is just not much emphasis on technical training and soccer IQ on the girls side. You just do not need it to win in the u9-u12 and by u13/u14 your pool of youth players is pretty much selected. Think if Loudoun and Arlington train technically in the u littles. Like 45 minutes each practice. Their u15-u17 teams would be incredible. |
|
^ Holy Smokes. You’re basing your entire argument based upon one game in in age group?
This is like basing an argument that a university is great because of one student’s grade, IQ, etc. |
|
What about Atletico Madrid? Spanish team in the tournament. They got abused. Is that reflective of anything or are going to stick Barcelona beating pda? Manchester City got dominated. I guess England getting to the semifinal and losing to the USA means nothing.
Everyone realizes other countries are getting better but it died by mean the uswnt will fall to the 30th in the world. The women’s game will be like the men’s eventually with multiple nations with a real chance to win every World Cup. I don’t think that has anything to go with a U15 game in 2019 though. |
Definitely agree with what you said. I still can’t believe that anyone can generalize an entire nation-wide Women’s Soccer Program based upon ONE game that is played by 14 year old girls. While the USWNT might not dominate in the future, they will continue to be at least the top 5 or 10 teams in the world. Unlike Women Soccer, the US men have many other sports that compete for athletic and talented players. |
Not one game but a growing trend an investment into the women’s game in Europe which is beginning to surpass our own investment. Remember, the parents invest in the game here. Major Pro clubs are investing in the game in Europe. We have fallen woefully behind in the men’s game because our pay to play cannot compete with the Academy investment in the youth game in Europe. From our selection, to coaching to finding proper competitive balance in Europe we are behind. Having that model take hold on the women’s side should yield similar results. Our continued chasing of leagues, patches, pay to play which keeps more kids out of the game than the attraction of other sports through HS that are “free” will be our stumbling block. In that one game, Barca looked like a team that has been professionally coached with players selected that fit the needs of the system without regard for ability to pay. The PDA team looked like a team coached by a part time coach who selected kids from a pool who’s parents can afford to play. |
