You think members of the Brazilian WNT are working second jobs? Give me a break. They are playing in Brazil, USA, or Europe as professional players. |
+1. Nations have different styles. I doubt the USA team ever adoptsca style like Spain. It isn’t necessarily kickball. |
The player pool and development investment between the current Spanish team and the current youth program is significantly different now. If you think the current Spanish NT were provided the same pro club academy backing as they are now you are deluding yourself. But I’m sure our top league that plays and trains competitively for 6 whole months will be better trained, better equipped than kids training 10 months at La Masia, Real Madrid or any other pro club in Spain. |
? GA clubs train 11 months. |
Have you every been to a place like La Masai? It’s a full time academy. They do school work and get on the pitch. There is no dead time, bad coaches doing their own thing. They have a program to develop players for the professional league at 23-24 years old not 16 year old so they can play in college. It’s just at such a higher level in terms of intensity, person development and skill development vs GA or ECNL training. Hell the best college programs in the US are a joke when compared to La Masai or similar type places. I knew a kid who trained at an academy in Germany for a month. When he came back it seemed like he was a year ahead of everyone else. |
People go to Europe to train for soccer. People come to the US to train for Basketball. People go to Beverly Hills for cosmetic surgery. People go to Silicon Valley to work in technology. People go to NYC to work on Wall Street and Broadway. People go to Hollywood........I don’t understand your point. |
Here let me help you out. GA/ECNL training are no where near the level of training received at La Masai or similar academies. Adding an additional moth of subpar training does not make you better. |
Thanks for your help. I’ll let my DD know there’s no point in playing anymore since she’s not enrolled at the best soccer academy in the world. She won’t be attending an Ivy League college either so I guess there’s no point in pursuing a college degree. What’s your point? Barcelona is the best in the world at soccer development. What about the other professional clubs in the ICC that lost to the American team? PP mentioned Manchester City as a “joke” of a team against the American teams. |
DP here. You are right that Barca is not an option for your daughter and that you can only choose among the clubs that are available to you. Howver, I would not judge ManCity girls program based on one game in one age group. They finished third in the ICC just a couple years ago. The reality is that European academies, not just Barcelona, are on an entirely different level on the boys side. They have not been taking girls game seriously, but now they are starting to employ the same methods to girls, which is a scary proposition for the future of USWNT. We still have the best, deepest talent on the girls side in the world, but the competition is likely to get much tougher. |
+1. People in this forum are so stupid. Women’s Soccer country is so terrible but yet we have been dominant in the World Cup and women are also coming here to play in the NWSL. (I think someone is sill sore after getting dumped by a US Woman Soccer Player.) |
You are right, the people in this forum are dumb if they think the undisputed lead that US women's soccer has enjoyed is insurmountable. NObody is questioning our player pool and our recent and storied success while ALSO noting the advances of countries like Spain. You can do both. Why are people so hesitant to evolve and stay ahead of the curve? Keep polishing old medals though. |
Don’t be foolish. No one said that. Why and what makes you think the USWNT is not and have not evolved? |
Old medals? That World Cup medal isn’t even a year old. |
So don’t judge Man City off their ICC performance which was a full tournament not just one game? But judge the entire sport in the United States off PDA’s performance against Barcelona in a single under 15 game? |
And it will be three years older when they have to defend. Yes, old medals. |
