The player pool and development investment between the current Spanish team and the current youth program is significantly different now. If you think the current Spanish NT were provided the same pro club academy backing as they are now you are deluding yourself.

Have you every been to a place like La Masai? It’s a full time academy. They do school work and get on the pitch. There is no dead time, bad coaches doing their own thing. They have a program to develop players for the professional league at 23-24 years old not 16 year old so they can play in college. It’s just at such a higher level in terms of intensity, person development and skill development vs GA or ECNL training. Hell the best college programs in the US are a joke when compared to La Masai or similar type places.

People go to Europe to train for soccer. People come to the US to train for Basketball.

Here let me help you out. GA/ECNL training are no where near the level of training received at La Masai or similar academies. Adding an additional moth of subpar training does not make you better.[/quote]

Thanks for your help. I’ll let my DD know there’s no point in playing anymore since she’s not enrolled at the best soccer academy in the world. She won’t be attending an Ivy League college either so I guess there’s no point in pursuing a college degree.

What’s your point? Barcelona is the best in the world at soccer development. What about the other professional clubs in the ICC that lost to the American team? PP mentioned Manchester City as a “joke” of a team against the American teams.[/quote]

+1. People in this forum are so stupid. Women’s Soccer country is so terrible but yet we have been dominant in the World Cup and women are also coming here to play in the NWSL. (I think someone is sill sore after getting dumped by a US Woman Soccer Player.)[/quote]

You are right, the people in this forum are dumb if they think the undisputed lead that US women's soccer has enjoyed is insurmountable. NObody is questioning our player pool and our recent and storied success while ALSO noting the advances of countries like Spain. You can do both.

Spain is used as an example of how far countries have come in a very short time. And by the way you talk about our superiority in women’s soccer you would think that we have won every World Cup. With our unbelievable talent and insurmountable lead how did we not make it to ALL the World Cup finals? And I can’t believe we lost a World Cup Final.

And what is with Germany being in 3 Finals and winning 2 in a row. Do you think Germany thought they would never lose and had it all figured out when they dominated for a decade?

So just stop acting like the USWNT will never lose. And demanding even more from the team and our development in the future should not be so triggering.

The reason the PDA vs Barca game was shown was to demonstrate how two young teams who represent both their nation’s collective style, being played at the highest youth level could give a glimpse down the road. It also put on huge display the disparity right now.

You can deny what you saw all you want to but it happened. We are not well equipped tactically to compete against such a well coaches team with similar athleticism. Our overall national youth development is pretty bad if that is our best against their best.

The reason we will always be contenders is because the college game keeps our women engaged in the sport at a high level. The college game doesn’t develop players but it also doesn’t let top talent slip through the cracks either. But that is all the college game will end up serving as, a wide net.

Yes we have NWSL, which most women play in after four years of college. Four years of college will be lost development time to women who are spending those same four years in a professional academy training without NCAA rules.
