How Technical are the Girls?

Where are all of these two footed superstars?

I don’t but one lives in my house. Lol I assumed the rest could use two feet as well. Maybe I am wrong and it is truly rare. I could use both feet when I played.

I wouldn’t necessarily look at league for elite criteria. Look at player individual skills.

That’s great. Is she truly ambidextrous or does she still favor one foot over the other?

No go watch the them play. Even on the elite teams skilled girls are rare, still rarer are skilled girls who are comfortable with both feet. In college it gets better but college is more “elite” vs middle school and high school “elite” soccer.

For the coaches or seasoned parents, what 1v1 skill move (pull Cruyff, etc.) is most important/effective for a U13G player to have? (Please don’t say first touch, etc. as I’m asking for 1v1 skill move(s).)

Every girl in ECNL or GA is superstars. They are all super skilled and can use either foot without thinking. They start training at u9 on individual ball skills and techniques. By the time they are u11/u12 they have master the foundations(juggling to a 1,000, great first touch, 12 fundamental ball control skills, etc)and have are least 15 “named moves” they can preform at speed under pressure with either foot. Most at this point can bend the ball in either direction with either foot. With great foundations these girls are now ready to showcase their vision and soccer IQ on the larger field and move on to college or the pros.

You would want at least two complementary moves. Try the snake and La Croqueta. Both these moves are can be used in a lot of different game situations. One is a fast move used to slow your opponent and the other is a medium speed move used on an opponent who has overcommitted or off balance. Both are tight space ball control moves. To master both you have to work on your touch and ball control with both feet.

I assume you’re being funny/sarcastic cause this doesn’t sound right.

I’ve never heard of the snake move. I will have to look that up now.

You meant the Elastico. I never heard of this move being called the snake before until I looked it up.

These two moves are indeed effective. While it looks easy to do, it takes a lot of practice.

I also think the feint is another good one and it’s easy to learn.

I can not get this to post. Maybe someone can post it.

Andres Iniesta ● Signature Move ● La Croqueta

A fast cut back or double cut will work 90% of the time, especially if done at a full run. I’d have your kid work on that before anything else. Change of direction with speed / change of speed always beats a static foot feint. Hence Iniesta’s move is so effective as it has both change of speed and direction without any super difficult foot antics like elastico. IMO.

I love how the last dozen or so posts are so educational/useful. This is how this soccer forum should be about......with seasoned parents or coaches sharing their experience and knowledge. Kudos and thank you to all of you!!
