When the FBI interviewed Flynn, the agents believed he was being truthful. Comey testified to that.

It wasn’t until the special counsel got involved that Flynn was charged. Why? If the FBI believed he was being truthful, why charge him?

This leads me to believe that they wanted Flynn to give them dirt on Trump, but since he had no dirt to give up, they needed to save face. The pressure campaign they launched against Flynn and his family resulted in a false “guilty” plea because Flynn could not afford the multi-million dollar defense that was needed.

This isn’t so complicated.
They heard him on the phone ( and god knows who else also have him on tape). They have him talking to foreign adversaries. Which is bad, but what is worse is he lied about it. He made himself a security risk. He was the NSA and he did that. It’s insane. It’s unforgivable. The FBI did their job. You can say thank you now.

But, the Director of the FBI testified that he didn't lie.
And, he was speaking to "foreign adversaries" as part of his upcoming role. Not a crime.

Part of his upcoming role? No. That’s not a thing.

The outrage is being ginned up by the usual liars on the right, amplified on social media, including by the president.

Go ahead and Pardon Flynn. He will get called before the House and have to testify truthfully and openly for every question asked, and if he refuses, he goes to jail.

Is that what the president really wants?

Our president is a dolt. His instincts on how to change the narrative aren't enough to make the covid go away. He finally had an actual crisis and he's ... clueless.

Within days of the Flynn interview, DOJ went straight to the White House. Acting AG Sally Yates talked to McGahn about the interview and indicated they had caught Flynn in a lie.

Flynn's subsequent explanation to the VP resulted in him getting fired.

Aw shucks. The FBI shouldn't charge good liars, only bad liars.

I take it that you don't have kids? Or co-workers?

LOL. Politico putting its left-wing spin on the egregious behavior of these agents.
I would love for Flynn to testify. I would love to hear about the treatment he has received.
And, he should not need a pardon. This case should be thrown out.

What part of Ccmey's testimony did you miss?

There's no children under Comet Ping-pong. There's no truth or honor in "General" Misha Flynn.

That Flynn is a good liar and had the agents thinking he was truthful? When he wasn't?

His words didn't match up with the record of the calls. And he knew that. He wasn't mistaken about the truth. He was lying.

I think you don't have any kids. Or co-workers.

If he did all of this and it was so bad, why the need to have a preconceived strategy "to get him to lie"? All of these terrible things were supposedly on tape...why not just charge him with those, from the outset? Why the need to try to trap him into a lie with the goal of prosecuting him for lying?

+1

Do you not think Mueller group would have thrown the book at him if he had committed a crime?

Uh, they offered him a Cooperation Agreement. Only clear criminals get those.

Because his vulnerability to blackmail as NSA was the issue. I don’t know the details of the conversation, but I’m guessing it wasn’t great. That still wasn’t the huge offense. He lied about it, making him a threat to our national security, and opening him up to blackmail. The only thing puzzling about this entire situation is how it didn’t occur to Flynn that the lie was the offense. I suppose he thinks security is just for the worker bees. He didn’t have to concern himself with such details. It’s insane and alarming. Thank god he was yanked.

So was he lying to the court when he made this statement (twice, before two different judges) or was he lying to the FBI or was he lying to Pence?

I can't keep track.

He had been told that his son would be prosecuted if he did not plead guilty. That was not disclosed in the plea agreement.

Lying is wrong. I try very hard to always tell the truth. But, if one of my kids was threatened and I had already lost my house to pay my own legal fees, I'm not sure that I would be able to not lie to protect my child from a false prosecution. This came from Mueller's group--not the FBI. In fact, the FBI initially said that they did not think he lied. This all changed with Mueller.

Many say that Flynn was guilty of all sorts of egregious crimes. If this is true, he should have been charged with those crimes. Do you not think Mueller's group would have done so?
