It stops at 18 in the vast majority of cases. 21 in a few states and DC. Unless your kids with that ex-wife are a decade or more apart in age, CS is going to be a short obligation on your part and a brief benefit for her and the kids.

It is also typically a low sum unless you are a multi-millionaire (and we know YOU and most of your audience aren’t) so hardly enough to fully support the exwife and kids.

And unless you stopped having at kids at age 50, paying even 18 years of child support won’t be for the rest of your working life. Let’s be honest that you were never going to be able to retire early anyway.

1 son, 1 daughter. And I’m OP. It’s not like I’m trying to take something from him, he doesn’t want more children. He has been given two children, I’ve been pretty generous IMO. I gave him so much. Why is it too much to ask that he give me this security?

He gave you two kids. You need to have your tubes tied for everyones sake.

Their is a legitimate medical reason why my tubes were not tied after my second. I have an IUD. That’s a pretty comparable when you consider the invasiveness and permanence between an IUD and Vasectomy.

A long time ago I saw a daytime talk show with this same scenario. The younger woman insisted that she hadn’t cheated. The man was angry and really wanted to shame her - he kept saying “I had a vasectomy!” Well, turns out theirs was the one in a million situation where the vasectomy was not 100% effective and he was the father.

He must have gotten his in some third world country. With mine, and this was a few decades ago, they didn't just snip the vas, they removed a piece, clamped and burned both ends. Now way was it growing back together.

Yeah, they do. I know of several cases. Especially if they want to trap that guy into a LT relationship, or think he is about to leave her.

I have a friend that had been married to her husband for almost 15 years. They had three kids. Her husband up and left her when the third kid was still a baby. He had been having an affair with a younger woman at work and decided he'd rather be with her.

Same here, a lot of cases married or not. For the above, or they simply wanted a child and the guy was not on board. They claimed the birth control failed. I feel like every man should be responsible for his own birth control, but since many are so irresponsible the woman can easily stop taking hers.
