Is being bi-gender a "thing" at your kid's school?

No matter how you feel about the issue, the above posters should be ashamed at their lack of trying to really engage The false equivalencies to race and weight and BS comparison and mocking is juvenile, illogical and badly stated.

I mean, really, this is the best you can offer? Such shallow intellects.

Being a bigot doesn't automatically make the people you don't like go away. It just makes you an intolerant prick.

It's not being shallow. It's being tired of dealing with this crazy BS. I am not going to try and understand or respect, let alone engage. Do you talk to the homeless? Do you try and engage? I would never be rude to anyone but I can still think they are mentally unstable and stay away.

Seriously, how is the comparison to race a "false equivalency"? The people who claim gender isn't a real biological condition also claim the same of race. What your DNA says about you is irrelevant and the only thing that matters is how you feel, so if for some reason a biological white person feels more of a connection to black culture, why can't they claim to be black or at least "racially fluid"?

I'm a white woman, can I start identifying as a black man if that's how I feel?

Yes according to all these DCUM loons.

lol Women can identify as men, POC as whites, poor as wealthy. We can now go away with deranged feminists, affirmative action, and white privilege. Bingo!

How does stating the biological fact that there are only two genders, male and female make one a bigot? I'm sorry your Gender Studies professor's claim that there are really 36 genders does not make it true.

It's the liberal brainwashing of America.

Really? It's exactly the same thing. Please try to actually explain how it's different, rather resorting to juvenile name calling.

Here's a video by black transwoman Kat Blaque, answering your question in a more eloquent way than I probably could: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZEsCWWskbY&feature=youtu.be In short, she points out that though both are based in societal expectations and reactions, race is--at least in part--biologically passed from parent to child, while gender isn't.

I'll take another opportunity to point out that while the conversation in this thread has widened to include transgender issues, the majority of questions and responses here are about t(w)eens who are gender non-conforming, gender fluid, or gender neutral, and have no interest in transitioning.

For all those arguing that race is binary, what do you think about people like Caster Semanya, who has both a vagina and internal testes, and is at a huge advantage competing against women because of testosterone levels?

Yeah, I have one. And I'm working on figuring out how to explain it to him in an age-appropriate way. (I think I have it under control. )

Watch the video. I'm telling you, she explains it better than I do. Don't want to watch? Here's a Huffington Post article that also dives into the issue, and quotes her: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/transracial-vs-transgender-whats-the-difference_us_58dd5f83e4b0fa4c09598748

Sex is biology, gender is a social construct. You are conflating the two.
