Cast of Hamilton makes statement to Pence at the end of the show.

Regardless of how Trump's voters feel, Trump craves the approval of the liberal elite. And he won't ever get it. He is now vehemently disliked in every glamorous sosphisticated city in the world, needs to go to the sticks for adoration fix from people he privately says he despises. Sads for him, won't ever be the cool kid, just the leader of the deplorables.

They had a job to do - entertain.
They failed at that by feeling the need to deliver a partisan political message.

Which part of that message was partisan? That was a direct statement of their feelings and fears to the man who has been elected vice president.

They didn't challenge his legitimacy. They didn't refuse to perform while he was in the audience.

They did their job, and at the end of the show they used their opportunity to ask him to make sure the administration he is a part of represents them, as well.

Did they deliver the same message to Hillary when she was in attendance? No?
It was a partisan message. And, not appropriate.

So don't go see the show. They don't care.

If you stand with injustice, you are guilty of injustice. I will not be silent. They will not be silent.

They are a diverse cast. Whether you believe it or not, we are afraid.

But why are they afraid? I would imagine that the theatre union they belong to does not let you work without legal documentation that you are in the country legally ...correct? Are they afraid of being deported because of their ethnic background? I'm Iranian but have lived in this country for 25 years and I'm a US citizen. I'm not afraid of being deported.

They themselves are not afraid of being deported. However, many of them are people of color and fear the fact that white nationalist groups feel empowered by the Trump Administration and the appointment of Bannon to his position. They've seen the effect of Republican efforts to disenfranchise minorities at the state level and fear that those efforts will redouble now.

Many of them, their co-workers and friends are LGBTQ. Pence made it clear when he was governor of Indiana how he feels about LGBTQ rights and funding for HIV treatment. Pence's positions give them legitimate reason to fear what a Trump administration will do.

Many of them may be Muslims or from countries that have terrorism problems. Donald J. Trump called for a complete and total ban on the entry of Muslims into this country, which he then walked back to "extreme vetting," which has become who knows what. A newly appointed member of the administration called Islam a "cancer." How should Muslims feel about that and what the administration thinks of them? (As an Iranian, consider whether you would've been permitted to immigrate to this country when you did had Trump's policies been in place.)

Many in the theatre community do not have access to health insurance as part of their work. Obamacare may be providing the health insurance they need. They legitimately fear losing their health insurance under a Republican administration.

Tump and Pence were legitimately elected and they will be the President and Vice-President. However, they did not win the popular vote and they need to deal with the fact that the majority of voters in this country did not support them.

People have booed politicians as long as there have been politicians. But bullying is using the power of the state to tell me who I can and can't sleep with, who I can marry, whether I can adopt, where I can shop, and what medical decisions I am able to make in consultation with my physician.

Just because people have always booed politicians does not make it right. I agree that all the scenarios you listed are much more troubling that booing Pence in a theater. But Pence and his family should not be booed when they go out to relax. That is bullying.

Well, looks like the cast was just following the example of our bullying president elect, who models such rude behavior on a daily basis. If it's okay for the president to call people fat disgusting pigs in public, that paves the way for it to be okay for the pubic to boo one of his henchmen.

Wait, wait. There is no evidence or any suggestion anywhere that the CAST booed the vice president. The booing happened when Pence entered the theater. The cast at that time was back stage.

Fascinating that Pence handled it with grace, and Trump falls apart needing an apology.

I think this is unprecedented. Really unprofessional and I agree with the speech.

AMERICA must always be a safe and special place. The Trump administration has been very cruel to many good people. Apologize!

Well done, Hamilton cast!

The show is already sold out through most of next year, with ticket demand pent up for years to come. They won't miss you, but you will miss out on a fantastic piece of art. Your loss.

This is the type of behavior that the mommies here would normally call rude.

Booing, Totally unacceptable.

Trumpkin values.

This. And he excoriates and threatens to take down the New York Times, but hires the publisher of Breitbart, who published this. http://www.breitbart.com/milo/2016/08/29/the-washing-machine-and-the-pill-the-two-worst-inventions-in-the-history-of-humanity/

No, they were polite. Being polite doesn't mean always saying nice things. It also means saying the difficult things in a nice way.

The PP who is from Iran and a legal immigrant of 25 years is about to have a huge wake up call. Honey, they might not deport you but your president is leader of a huge band of people who do not respect your right to be here and will just lump you on in with all the Muslim terrorists they imagine are here or trying to be. They do not see you any differently. Really. You are a brown outsider who doesn't belong here to them.
