They had a job to do - entertain.
They failed at that by feeling the need to deliver a partisan political message.

Which part of that message was partisan? That was a direct statement of their feelings and fears to the man who has been elected vice president.

They didn't challenge his legitimacy. They didn't refuse to perform while he was in the audience.

They did their job, and at the end of the show they used their opportunity to ask him to make sure the administration he is a part of represents them, as well.

Did they deliver the same message to Hillary when she was in attendance? No?
It was a partisan message. And, not appropriate.

What is partisan about asking that an administration protect the rights of all people, to work on behalf of all people, to uphold American values? If that's partisan then I guess it says more about conservatives' beliefs than just about anything.

It's the underlying message that it even needs to be asked. This overreaction on the part of the liberals is ridiculous, and spurred on by the liberal media.

By both the liberal media and the alt-right media.

This whole issue is ironic.

This first world problem - as reflected on some of the posts in this thread - is an East/West Coast issue that doesn't affect Middle America.

So to the morons in the audience cheering or those cheering on this thread? Hamilton "protesters" were preaching to the choir.

only reinforces how Trump won the EC b/c of Middle America

Trump's twitter response to all this makes him look like Whiner-in-Chief.

You are forgetting about Trump's tweets.

This. Its ok if he whines apparently.

He says they need to apologize. Or what? Will he order the national guard on the public when he is in office?

And the safe space in theaters for Pence. But no safe space for rape victims with PTSD?

What an asshole.

Sorry, completely inappropriate. The man was just trying to have a pleasant evening out with his family, and he has to be subjected to that.

First of all, there was nothing disrespectful in the post show comments.

Second of all, if Pence is too thinned skin for that feedback from fellow Americans, then he is in for a very rough ride as Vice President.

i have no problem if the cast member delivered the same message privately after the show (or before). But to do it publicly makes it a partisan and inappropriate statement.

What's next, will national anthem signers at ball games make personal statements in front of 40,000 people after singing the anthem. Will metro train drives start making annoucements over the intercom on the Red Line? Is that also appropriate? No, because that is not the time or place for expressing their personal opinions.

Why not? You got a problem with free speech?

When successful theatrical art is made by conservatives they can make their own statements at the end of their shows.
The personal is political.

Ha! I don't believe you.

So, hate speech and swastikas, no need to address.

Booing, Totally unacceptable.

Trumpkin values.

But the President-Elect tweeting about it isn't an overreaction?

You know, sort of like the 'Don't thread on me' protests after Obama was elected.
Now liberals get to be the partriots defending the country from an evil government!!

And if liberals are going to defend the country, I would hope a massive debt, massive deficit spending, unsecured contact with foreign officials and threats to the public for speaking their mind would be top concerns.

Seriously! So much eye-rolling and laughter over liberals protesting the debasement of American values by the election of an internet-troll to the nation's highest office, but when some people at a private enterprise (i.e. Broadway performance) respectfully employ their 1st Amendment rights to make a plea to the incoming administration for civility and upholding of our ideals, then all of a sudden it's the president-elect and his supporters crying "no fair!" I roll my eyes right back at them.

I LOVED Trump's tweet across the bow of the PC crowd that the theater should be a "safe space."

I'm pretty sure the audience was entertained. And most likely agreed with the cast. And if others don't like it, they can sell their tickets to someone else.

"No whites need apply" ...to the cast of Hamilton.

"Do as I say, not as I do."
What a cast of Hillary liars.

Why weren't there more white in The Wiz? And what about Dreamgirls? By the way, Google Jonathan Groff.

DP. The Wiz was always supposed to be a black version of the Oz story. Dreamgirls is literally about black ladies. It makes sense that those shows wouldn't want to cast whites.

But a show about the founding fathers??

And, no, I won't google Groffsauce. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I think you've missed the point the show is trying to make. Here's a hint: The actor playing King George is white.
