Cast of Hamilton makes statement to Pence at the end of the show.

Amazing.

“We have a message for you sir, and we hope that you will hear us out, ” Brandon Victor Dixon, the actor who plays Aaron Burr, told the audience. “We sir, we are the diverse America, who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights. But we truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us."

To his credit, Pence stopped his exit to listen.

Inappropriate for the cast to have done this.
They had a job to do - entertain.
They failed at that by feeling the need to deliver a partisan political message.

Nah. First Amendment and all. They had a way to make a point and they took it.

I'm pretty sure the audience was entertained. And most likely agreed with the cast. And if others don't like it, they can sell their tickets to someone else.

Which part of that message was partisan? That was a direct statement of their feelings and fears to the man who has been elected vice president.

They didn't challenge his legitimacy. They didn't refuse to perform while he was in the audience.

They did their job, and at the end of the show they used their opportunity to ask him to make sure the administration he is a part of represents them, as well.

Sorry, completely inappropriate. The man was just trying to have a pleasant evening out with his family, and he has to be subjected to that.

Everyone must be vigilant and take every opportunity to keep the next administration in check. The cast was respectful. I'm hoping this was just the first of many opportunities for the public to remind Pence (and others) what's at stake and why this matters.

Well done, Hamilton cast!

Did they deliver the same message to Hillary when she was in attendance? No?
It was a partisan message. And, not appropriate.

Last time I checked, most, if not all of the cast of Hamilton are Americans. They have a right to express their opinions. How is freedom of speech and an expression that the newly elected vice-president should learn from the lessons of the play something that should be stifled?

The fact is that the cast represents latinos, gays, african-americans, jews, muslims etc who are all very nervous about the past actions of senior administration officials.

Are you suggesting that their right to free expression should be suppressed? One of the cast members is an openly gay man with HIV. According to Pence, he should be given mandatory conversion treatment.

Is that an American value?

Yeah, because they are a bunch of liberals in NY. Look at the mayor - vowing to protect illegal criminals. All this stuff just shows why you guys lost.

Yep. And I hope it happens to him a thousand times more. What did he think was going to happen?? No sympathy at all.

First of all, there was nothing disrespectful in the post show comments.

Second of all, if Pence is too thinned skin for that feedback from fellow Americans, then he is in for a very rough ride as Vice President.

And??? They spoke respectfully and earnestly. As is their right. Sorry if Pence doesn't want to hear it.

Then he shouldn't have become Vice President-elect. Life will be forever changed. Sorry dude.
