Have you heard of Davidson College?

That's good to hear.

Davidson is a great school. I believe it has a growing reputation FWIW.

My kid will be going to Duke next fall but I was secretly hoping it would be Davidson. I really liked the place, I've known smart people who graduated, and they offer good merit for tippy-top students. I went to a small liberal arts college in the NE and Davidson reminded me of that.

Only recently and it's been all good.

NO, anything in the south is terrible

No, I have never heard of it.

Davidson is a fine school and a top 15 LAC by any measure, but I wouldn't call it elite or nationally acclaimed like Amherst or Pomona are. It is a regional school, and most students are from the South. They are known for their honor code, excellent athletics, and small courses.

Perhaps not, but wow, it's hard to get into now. 20% acceptance rate and the 75% SAT is a 1550?

Things change. Pomona was a regional school until recently. Davidson is an excellent school and is definitely on the rise, drawing many more students from this area.

Nice try at conflating Pomona and Davidson. Davidson is a regional school that very few people have heard of.

They're both great schools. Pomona is more competitive because of its location.

I have to disagree. I'm a native Californian and have seen Pomona rise dramatically in prestige (FWIW) over the last two decades. The same thing is happening with Davidson.
