DC Public and Public Charter Schools
Well, that sounds like Bethune. But, the problem is, of they're waiting for Bethune to get their shit together and tell their own students/parents they might be SOL, because we all know how well they manage stuff.

That space is pretty nice. LAMB subleased the west wing of the building many years ago (probably 2005?). |
| tomorrow is the end of the dc government fiscal year. perhaps that is a factor. |
They aren't waiting for them to get their shit together, they have an agreement to announce today. Whether the other school has their shit together is irrelevant, they agreed on the timeline, which is part of the lease contract. (disclaimer: this is pure speculation based on info provided to everyone, I don't have any actual inside info). |

As promised, I am writing to provide an update on the facilities situation. While, we are still not in a position to provide final details, we have made significant progress and I want to provide some updates on the process.
Original Building we Discussed. For over a year, I have been talking about a building in relative proximity to our current building that was “promised” to us. Unfortunately, due to major development delays, it is now clear that the timeline for that building will not align with our needs, so that building is off the table. Likely Location. We are negotiating terms to lease a space in very close proximity to our current space. The owner has asked us to keep the details confidential while they review the agreement and communicate to their stakeholders, but we are working with them to make a decision as soon as possible. Backup Location. If we are unable to secure an agreement for the likely location, we have identified an alternate that we could secure on short-notice. We are proceeding with negotiations for this location so that we are able to secure a facility in the coming months. Additional Updates. We recognize that this process is naturally causing significant anxiety among our families. I'd like to share with you some details of the process we're undertaking to select a facility, and I'll continue to provide regular updates on our work until a final decision is made. During the course of this week, our Facilities Committed (comprised of our Board Chair and Vice Chair, Parent Board Member Christina Nagey, Center for Green Schools Associate Anisa Baldwin Metzger, Erin, and me) and our Board of Trustees met to review potential facilities and identify next steps in the search process. We've also issued an RFP to identify design/build firms to assist us in renovating the building selected. Given the frustration surrounding this, I will be providing updates every 2 weeks until we have a final, signed agreement, which clearly needs to occur prior to the enrollment process for next year. Please feel free to come see me (or call/email me) if you have any concerns about anything I outlined in this email. Sincerely, Chris |
originial building is Perry, no doubt, not free because VA space isn't free any guesses on the other two spaces? |
back up location not necessarily close to current space . . . |

originial building is Perry, no doubt, not free because VA space isn't free any guesses on the other two spaces? What's the VA space? |
| I didn't post the email, but I imagine the person who posted wanted to talk about in anonymously. Lee is pretty close knit and maybe poster wanted to feel free to say negative things (like why the hell couldn't we have gotten this email a couple of days ago so we didn't sweat this deadline!). |
originial building is Perry, no doubt, not free because VA space isn't free any guesses on the other two spaces? What's the VA space? isn't lamb waiting for the old military hospital to be available, but DC is dragging their feet? |
What's the VA space? isn't lamb waiting for the old military hospital to be available, but DC is dragging their feet? A building on the campus of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center. I think it's more like DoD is taking forever to give it to DC. [It's never been a VA facility] |
| Sounds sketchy. |

Hmm. So, basically "I made a commitment to let you knew and now infant so here's a bunch of fluff, sorry this sucks so hard."
Fine, but don't commit a deadline you're not sure you can keep. |

Doesn't sound like it's their fault. Sounds like they're trying for transparency. The location debacle at ssma was a lesson not just for ssma.
Speaking of, that'd be my guess for back up location. |
