where is Lee moving? Leak it here!

I think the only way for Lee to get out of this power point issue is to disclose how many of heir current families applied elsewhere.

That said I know several Lee parents who applied to LAMB last year because they valued the language immersion and they aren't hung up on having the most authentic Montessori experience.

Yet again, Lee is being bashed unfairly and without basis.

I always bash LAMB for being Montessori lite and I frequently post about this. I think LAMB is a joke and its parents are clueless re: real Montessori. I am NOT a Lee parent but am a Montessori purist. I commend Lee and Shining Stars (even though they regrettably went AMS as opposed to AMI).

Montessori Lite, what school do your kids attend? I personally would never call a Spanish bilingual school that actually teaches grammar that is also tier one a joke, but then again you do sound like you have an axe to grind.

Montessori Lite sends her kids to Lee. Based on her posts, she continually insists LAMB would vacate Perry St in favor of Lee. I think that's the source of her complaints regarding LAMB. I would be embarrassed of having such a insane, reckless booster.

Here is a recent post (pasted below): http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/90/441851.page;jsessionid=7A4B65194E44B13C54C747DB85C58F5C.dcum2#7473134

"It is going to be Perry. An admin mentioned it like two years ago at a school fair before Lee even started--before they started smartly not giving concrete information about the future location. When I realized where it was, this gave me pause because it is pretty far from me, but I thought well maybe it isn't Perry because they started saying within a mile. The latest revision of within 1 to 2 miles leaves me to believe it is definitely Perry. And yes, two montessoris at the same location would be great for both schools although LAMB isnt really montessori

and Lee is."

I should note that Lee is not accredited by AMI or AMS. They may be seeking it, but they don't have it.

The poster who insists that the new location will be Perry is not a Lee parent either. Not sure if Perry poster and Montessori lite poster are the same person or not, but the Perry poster made it clear in previous posts that she ended up elsewhere.

But again, believing that LAMB isn't strict Montessori isn't bashing LAMB, it's a fact that they do not have and are not seeking AMI certification and that for Montessori purists it's not "real" Montessori. Lee doesn't have AMI certification either (neither does SSMA) but they are both seeking certification (SSMA seeking AMS).

I am a Lee parent and I have never had a SINGLE conversation with any families about either AMI or AMS and when other Montessori schools have come up it has only been positively. The vast majority of Lee parents send their kids there because that's where they landed. A few had previous Montessori experience and/or picked Montessori specifically but there is certainly not a hard core of Montessori purists that consider diverging from Maria Montessori's teachings to be blasphemy (like the Montessori lite poster). Most of us are still learning what Montessori is. And it's not all rainbows and unicorns -- if there are things that we question or wonder if they are working, like allowing parents into the classroom at drop off, or having parental involvement in the classroom, they are often things that are part and parcel of "real" Montessori.

How nice to read a post by someone who clearly has the power of discernment. You are correct: I am the person who posted that admin said Perry Street would be the location and am also the person who posted that LAMB is not real Montessori. Obviously if I had a problem with the Perry Street future location I would not send my child to a school that would end up in a location that was not workable for my family. So no, I am not a current Lee parent. I wish the school all the best, it appears to be headed in the right direction. Shining Stars also seems to have recovered from its past debacle and is headed in the right direction from what I hear. And LAMB, although Montessori inspired, continues not to be "real" Montessori.

The Montessori Lite moniker is reserved for the poster who admittedly uses the term to bash (her word) LAMB.

Rrrrrrrrrright. So you don't send your kids to Lee but you obsessively post about Lee's future location, read all of the posts about Lee, subtly criticize Shining Stars for not seeking AMI certification, and never mention Capitol Hill Montessori at Logan, the other Montessori school. Um okay.

I am sure many did. Lee is untested, has no set location, and not everyone (I would even say most people) don't like strict, strict Montessori. I am sure it's a great school, but they need to realize that people pick the best school for their kid. There is no such thing as the "best" school. I love Montessori, which is why I would definitely consider it for my kid. But I would not say Lee is a better school than shining stars, CHM@L, or LAMB. Why? Because there is no such thing. The only thing that matters is whether a school is the best fit for our kid. Part of determining this is also finding out what our potential commute would look like, which is why I am very curious to see where Lee lands. I'm also curious as to what the parent atmosphere is like. Kind of concerned about Lee.

Has there been definite confirmation that it won't be Tree of Life?

I'm a Lee parent and agree with every thing you said. (Though personally we didn't apply else where). The parent community is fantastic and not at all as portrayed here. And yes, there has been definite confirmation that it's not Tree of Life. At least, Admin have confirmed that to several parents.

Btw, Perry st has also been ruled out by admin in conversations with parents, and maybe, Bethune.

But now that they have abandoned the original option, it looks like it could be a building that's not currently a charter school.

Bethune too! Not surprised that perry st is a no-go. Wish they'd kick out perry st prep and put lee in its place.

Why would you advocate kicking out a school for another?

This must have been posted by a LAMB parent--the Middle States Association is not a Montessori accrediting organization and is irrelevant to this discussion. Do your research, people. It is, after all, your child's education.

Nope, I'm not stupid. I know Middle States is not a Montessori organization. My point is that LAMB is already accredited as a school. Lee is not accredited by AMI or AMS or anyone else for that matter. The same can be said for Shinning Stars. "Seeking accreditation" does not earn a school bragging rights. These two schools have a long way to go still.

Lee parent so I read all the threads on Lee. Never once has there been a bad word said about the Lee parent atmosphere from actual Lee parents. Lee parents have voiced concerns over future location, cost of aftercare, frou frou lunches (in the old Halsa days), and not having much access to the classroom. But every single Lee parent who has posted about the parent community has said it is welcoming and low key. People read snotty posts on here (some by Lee parents, many not by Lee parents) and proclaim that Lee parents are mean spirited and "ultra competitive"or eager to bash other schools, but I've NEVER seen a single post by a Lee parent that says "yea, the other parents can be a tad much." It is really a lovely community of teachers, parents, and staff.

And your point is irrelevant to the discussion at hand which is whether LAMB is "real" Montessori. The only "bragging rights" that seeking accreditation earns are those that say that it's serious about following the Montessori method. LAMB is not. That's a fact. Many people (myself included) think that it's a great school regardless. But if Montessori is important to you, you should know that LAMB is not strictly Montessori.
