How do you know this? Are you on the board? The principal?

I just know that the new space was said to be an additional location and not a replacement location and it doesn't have facilities for full PK-8.

The rumor about Bethune is unrelated to its new space. The fact that they have an additional location neither confirms nor denies the rumor that they may be vacating their current space.

In the context of this thread, however, it seems preposterous to speculate that Lee is moving into Bethune's space for next year.

No more preposterous than speculating about any other location with green space close to the current location.

So no one knows nothing, I guess.

I'm most nervous about Tree of Life. I agree it seems unhealthy for outside play - but I guess the New York/florida Two Rivers is too, and it would be affordable because not a lot of demand. I don't think the space will be in Brookland proper - too expensive now. I wonder if the choice is Perry (short term lease) or Tree of Life (forever home)? I thought earlier Doar or Perry were the most likely possibilities.

Are there any other possibilities than what is already in this thread?

Potomac lighthouse would be amazing, but why would they leave?

The waiting is tough so nice to hash through everything here even if we are (likely) just shooting in the dark.

So here is my wish list (in order):
Metropolitan Day School
Bethune
Potomic Lighthouse (and maybe this before Bethune)
Perry St. Prep

Until I'm told otherwise, I will dream!

Drove by the tree of life school on my way to moms. I'm not skittish, but that location can't be healthy. Way too industrial. Seems almost like a superfund site. Would worry about kids eating snow with heavy metal residue (there was a bunch of snow eating going on last winter on the playground according to my kid).

I don't get it. You people that are hoping for Potomac Lighthouse, DOAR, are you hoping to co-locate with another charter again??

This was my question up thread. Why would they co-locate with another Charter again? If any of these mentioned schools were closing, the public would know by now.

Well they say they have will announce shortly. The commercial real estate market is limited in DC-- guess we will just have to wait and see what deal was cut and if the 'stay within 2miles 'was real. Two miles could take the school into an entirely different Ward. EOTR perhaps?

Sorry for typos.

It's not just car exhaust, there is a gigantic (gigantic!) open pit of dusty trash and old building materials within sight of tree of life. So feed your kids organic food and then let them breath in lead and asbestos? That place is a nonstarted. I thought my worst fear was moving too far away, but pretty much tree of life is my worst fear. I'll take another temporary location any day.

I don't know if this adds to the Bethune speculation, but I was just informed that their classes up to 2nd grade would be moving to 16th at location. This obviously means that more space at the Brookland location will be available.
