Stephen Colbert’s show cancelled?

I haven’t watched a late night show in years. Anything worth watching from one shows up as a 30 sec clip the next day, and 30 sec is the most that’s worth watching. I can’t imagine sitting through an hour of one, every weeknight? Pointless. Cancel them all. None of them are worth $100 million!!

The vast majority of people under 60 years old are on streamers and you can always tell how old someone is if they start complaining about Fox News. Then, in his Late Show role, he actually BECAME that character. That’s why he was no longer funny, and that’s why Americans abandoned the show

Because it's always been propaganda slop for the dumb masses. Same for the 4 or 5 hour long morning "news" shows, followed by the multiple 1 hour long table "discussion" shows. It's literally all state propaganda.

The finances of it are weird because it’s an externalized cost. The part most people like is the opening monologue. That’s pretty short and so many people just watch it on YouTube later. The endless celebrity interviews are mostly boring (but occasionally moderately interesting) but the industry has an interest in having a venue for the celebs to promote their shows so everyone eats the cost in late night shows in order to do that promotion. Otherwise they would have to pay for some other venue to promote shows and movies. The truly unreadable part on every late night show is generally the filler skits which are 90% stupid but occasionally moderately interesting or amusing
(like the time jimmy Kimmel had his cousin pose as a Costco returns person giving people crap over their returns).

We watch Colbert’s monologue, Meanwhile, Sounds of Science and whichever guest interviews we like on Youtube every night. We also watch Kimmel’s monologue and any interesting guest interviewers. Most of the skits drag on too longs especially the MyPillow guy. Sometimes Guillermo does a funny interview or Jimmy’s favorite cousin and aunt are punked.

Since that's not why the show was cancelled, there's no need for you to fret. It's been stated (and cited) multiple times that the show was losing millions for the network. It's a business decision. But do continue concocting political conspiracy theories.

I have not seen anything that counters these assertions.

Why cancel now? CBS had ample opportunity to do so. Why now? Because of the merger. Trump can’t handle his feelings being hurt.

They didn't "cancel" the show this week.

He will get to finish his contract. They simply are not renewing the contract
